I typically wear a black button-up shirt and a baseball cap backwards. The cap is to hide my ugly-ass hair (plus, I LIKE the cap), and the black is to hide the inevitable sweatstains that will appear, as well as disguise any funky posture positions.
Glad it went well.
Take the experience and think about what you have learned from it.
The crazy thing is that you may still have a whole heap of things that you may not know to look for so you will need to keep at it.
What it a specific trance thing or was it mixed styles? (It's probably in the previous posts but missed it).
Playing just a specific trance set can be infinately more complicated than doing a more commercial style of DJing.
Commercial DJing:
You are generally playing tracks that people already know and assosciate with and you have so many 'safety' tracks that you can drop to get out of trouble that as long as you are sensible it's quite hard to go wrong in comparisson.
People love hearing stuff they know and relate to so you don't need to thing so much over if this song will work well over the sound system.
Working a club:
You will be by enlarge be playing a set that is for the most part unknown to the majority of clubbers with the exception of the big tunes of that time and the hardcore ravers. So you have to rely on your knownledge of what works and how it should sound. You have to tap into the mood of the crowd. Be respectful of your time slot and the DJs that have been on before you and those who will come after you.
There are similarities in the business but on the whole they are very different animals.
Cheers

Don't be a fucking tool. No one gives a shit about your clothes, so long as you're a good DJ. Image is nothing. Sound is everything.
Just wear some comfortable shoes, jeans, and a polo. Mess with your hair a bit and call it good.
And, for the love of God, don't wear sunglasses. Sunglasses indoors makes you look like a retard.
