I don't know what the hell is with people and my name, everyone seems to think it's Brinden, when in fact it's Briden! this happens to me on every damn board i visit, there must be some sort of psychological thing with people seeing that word and adding a bloody n in there!

anyway, rant over.

personally, i'd wear something that makes a statement, at gigs i have worn a "just have fun" tshirt that has a bunch of dancing smiley face looking things, that went over well. or you could go political and wear something like this:

course, since the gig is tonight, you don't have to order it, but maybe for next time.

I typically wear a black button-up shirt and a baseball cap backwards. The cap is to hide my ugly-ass hair (plus, I LIKE the cap), and the black is to hide the inevitable sweatstains that will appear, as well as disguise any funky posture positions.

Glad it went well.
Take the experience and think about what you have learned from it.

The crazy thing is that you may still have a whole heap of things that you may not know to look for so you will need to keep at it.

What it a specific trance thing or was it mixed styles? (It's probably in the previous posts but missed it).

Playing just a specific trance set can be infinately more complicated than doing a more commercial style of DJing.

Commercial DJing:
You are generally playing tracks that people already know and assosciate with and you have so many 'safety' tracks that you can drop to get out of trouble that as long as you are sensible it's quite hard to go wrong in comparisson.
People love hearing stuff they know and relate to so you don't need to thing so much over if this song will work well over the sound system.

Working a club:
You will be by enlarge be playing a set that is for the most part unknown to the majority of clubbers with the exception of the big tunes of that time and the hardcore ravers. So you have to rely on your knownledge of what works and how it should sound. You have to tap into the mood of the crowd. Be respectful of your time slot and the DJs that have been on before you and those who will come after you.

There are similarities in the business but on the whole they are very different animals.

Cheers

i played mostly hip-hop music couse thats what they wanted, as soon as i put on some trance... everyone screamed... booo!!! so i did a little scratch close thing and very fast faded into a hip-hop track. it was fun overall tho... a little too easy if you ask me. i expected way worse.

i agree, playing at a club is different. a bunch of people who know how to mix are going to be checking you out. much more difficult to impress...

ugly ass hair DJ_Ikronix? shave the damn thing like i did.

at Dirk W. yea those freshman girls are nuts.

At least you had the guts to give it a try.

Don't be a fucking tool. No one gives a shit about your clothes, so long as you're a good DJ. Image is nothing. Sound is everything.

Just wear some comfortable shoes, jeans, and a polo. Mess with your hair a bit and call it good.

And, for the love of God, don't wear sunglasses. Sunglasses indoors makes you look like a retard.

The cloths thing maybe is just another thing of prefrence, the music is one way expressing yourself... and the cloths is another
