Well I don't know about you're classic trance, but your classic trance has. Yeah, several tracks have made to widespread play. And the genres they represent are structurally no different. Therefore are also pop.

Every single genre of music has had a Top 40 entry. If what you say is true, all music is pop music. Therefore making your use of the word totally pointless.

My point was that dance music is more commercially involved now than ever, yet trance remains one of the least commercially popular genres.

Our discussion has more value and merit than endless lists of tracks because someone is too bloody lazy to develop their own musical taste.

Exactly. Now, I'm not really into the genre of rock music and such... but I can say that all punk is not pop. Punk can be pop, though. Good Charlotte style bands... I'd say that's pop punk. But that doesn't make all punk pop.

You're right there. Like I've said before, these threads are pointless, as the only tunes listed are already overhyped. So really, what's the point?

Yeah every genre has, but not every subgenre. So not totally pointless. And Dance only charts don't count.

Almost every sub-genre. The number of sub-genres that haven't charted is much less than the number of sub-genres that have.

This is my point:
Firstly ATRC was played by djs and everybody wanted the setrip and everybody was like OMFG this is top quality, then it got a video clip and stuff and everybody hated the track instantly. I didnt understand... As imo ATRC is not commercial trance (though they made lots of money with it), and it certainly is not cheese...

Okay, i kinda see your point.. but here is my opinion. First, ATRC is not really "trance". Second, I never saw much in this track from day one.. which is fine as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, as it was pointed out in this thread.. the track itself is not very strong on the production side as public hypes it up to be. It is not weak of course, but it is nothing special. I think that the vocals actually made this track, but that the lyrics are horrid. Anyways, this is so 2003. Lets forget about it shall we?

The relevance of that question? You said any music with radio and TV play is designed for popular consumption, and almost every sub-genre of music has done those things, and had a Top 40 entry. Therefore, almost all music is pop music. If you start bringing comparative references in, your argument falls flat on its face, as comparative to almost all styles of music with Top 40 entries today, trance is very unpopular.
