and now the djm1000 is announced.
http://www.pioneerprodjforums.com/u...sb=5&o=&fpart=1
yup.
Not nearly as exciting as the 500r
I still say the efx500sw owns the efx500r
(sw was that translucent version)
BTW... I was expecting a 4 channel 909 or something...that thing kind of seems like a pioneer version of an allen and heath mixer (like a mesh of the 92, and 464...)

with no efx or sampler it looks like it's going head to head with A&H. Who's going to be able to afford that beast plus efx1000 other than club installations?
Heres the thing, pioneer is not known for extremely good sound quality, or reliability.
Allen and Heath are.
I dont know why they are trying to take on that market. If its guts are anything like the 600 it wont be extremely reliable.
As far as sound quality goes, I would hope they have improved it, seeing as they did with the efx1000.
I still think this is a poor move.
sound quality is the biggest gripe people have with the 600, so it would be suicide to try and compete in installations if they haven't improved that part of the design. 6 channels as well as sound quality, this thing is going to be expensive
bah
i'd rather have my dnx1500 over that pioneer djm1000 any day
and it doesn't look like theyr'e trying to target the bedroom dj/producer market at all with that new mixer either seeing it has that slanted/club-rack ready design and no efx or sampler
and you're right, with average sound quality pioneer has no place in the club
for club installation, it's all about the cloud!

Plus one of the head pio guys on the board said he beleives it will retail for around 2500.
Waste of money IMO.

ok well i started a new thread about this since i didnt see this one...anyway i got to use it last Sat when i opened for deep dish, they had a prototype..thing is fucking insane...the humanizer effect and the vodoer are sick...definetly a fun toy...
Well, we've all heard a vocoder effect before, but how was the humanizer effect? What does it do? make robot voices sound human?
just googled it, apparently it recreates human vowel sounds, i.e. a, e, i, o, u. probably does it with filters or something...
There is two vids of Zabiela in action with it here:

Altho i cant make out whats so good about it from thoose vids.

useful
So anyone have any reviews of this thing yet?
Thinking maybe for Christmas I may treat myself to this... if not, for sure a 500... rather than start a new thread, I thought maybe any of you guys who've now used both can offer any input... I'm curreently running CDJ 800's and an Allen & Heath Xone 62...
In my opinion it would be well worth it to get one of these. I have the 500 and i get a bit frustrated with the limitations it has on it (for example only going up to 4 beats) Defently thinking about getting one of these but first gonna be investing in getting the 909 Looks like a sweet mixer. As for the difference in sound quality lets all be honest Inside of a club wheres theres so much background noise and reverb ect. Ur not really gonna be paying attention and/or notice The difference in sound quality between the two. Except maby if ur in japan. Those clubs r crazy good.
considering the efx500 is a staple in most clubs.. how much of a difference will the sound quality be? sure itll sound cleaner, but with all the noise/reverb/distortion in alot of clubs anyawy, i dont think its a huge deal. however, the quality is important if youre going to use this for producing.
in general though, after playing with both the efx500/1000 and kaoss pad 2, you can be way more creative with the kp2. one of the biggest arguments for the efx is that you can 'duplicate a sound over and over again'. sure that can be a good thing.. but considering 10,000 djs use the same efx with the same effects (and the good combos being used all the time) the 'duplicated sound' gets old... in my opinion at least. the kp2 gives you alot of freedom, and its hella fun to mess aound with the touch pad and really manipulate some tracks.
razzi.
I don't know where a lot of you are getting these price quotes from but it retails $800 tops and is sick. I have been using it for a little time now and am in love w/ it. Adds a lotta depth to a set. Shouldn't be used to detract from track selection but instead help songs sound different than original and liven them up.
