I really don't understant Tranceaddicts way of thinking

You elevate one dj to a superstar status ... and, when he's become a superstar you lynch him like there was no tomorrow.

I feel sad for Armin Van Buuren who will be lynched in two or three years from now !

True. They're just djs.

I am curious though... why is it that you think he sucks so much?

Is it that he's too "mainstream" for you?

The fact that his music has 'mass appeal' and brings thousands of people to the EDM scene... does this threaten your idea that the music you listen to is 'underground' ?

When it comes down to it.. if you walked into a club, and there was some "no-name" dj who was laying down the beats HARD... building it up, taking you on a journey... and laying down one after another of HIS OWN tracks he produced! Making the whole place go off the wall.. the crowd and the dj... feeding off eachother's energy. Everybody in the room just TOTALLY into it... especially the DJ himself..! and the vibe.. the VIBE!

You would fucking wet your pants.

But because his name is Tiesto, and he's becoming insanely popular.... you'd just shake your head and miss out on the experience.

More power to ya buddy. To each their own.

So feel free to elaborate on why he sucks.. and please, don't say all he plays is "cheese". Come up with something original.

a journey? haha, ok.

i've moved beyond trance in my recent years, so that basically rules him out of my taste bracket instantly. i'm not talking about his Djing skills, I'm talking about the idea that the man has an audio engineer to do the form work for his tracks, and about his generic sound.

I loaded up soulseek to grab one of his tracks, so i could refresh my memory on my distaste for his music, and to top it off i'm waiting in line to hear his shit.

my genre isn't threatened by tiesto, it's not even in competition with trance.

in my 'yes or no' thread someone stated that the 'yes or yes' poll was better, and then someone else added 'the tiesto thread has topped it'. i put one and one together and here is this thread.

there, i just listened to The Roc Project, As the Rush Comes and Traffic. all of which sucked, in my opinion. Generic, nothing special. He's up there with Oakenfold on my charts.

did you vote?

This thread is all about Diginut. Seriously funny shit in here today!!

P.S. If I had Tiesto bedsheets, I'd wet the bed every night. On purpose.

So you don't like the genre of music he plays. Shouldn't you be changing your question to "Does trance suck?". If you want to translate your dislike of a certain genre into negativity in respect to the talent and/or ability of a dj to create a mindblowing party.. then by all means, enjoy your blissful ignorance.

Ahh... so he employs the assistance of talented people to help bring his vision of a track to life.

....

..

Wait. This is bad how??

Tiesto isn't even my favourite dj, but I have a lot of respect for the guy. He is the dj who brought me into the whole EDM scene, and like you... my taste in music has drifted away from his style in recent years. The fact remains though... he is an incredibly talented at what he does. And when it comes to creating a wicked party and vibe... there are few who possess his ability to do so with such finesse. Anybody who attended his recent performance at The Docks can attest to that.

There are lots of musical genre's that aren't for me. I still respect and appreciate what they're trying to do though. Next time Tiesto comes around... go check out one of his parties with an open mind. You might be surprised.

Nope, that would be Oakie himself, Paul Oakenfold. He's the biggest buffoon that ever took a breath.

This sums up how I feel about Tiesto as well.I was @ The Docks & thought his set was "ok".The best I've heard him was when he played Koolhaus a few years ago....just my opinion though

well if u had a no name dj that dropped track after track that had a nice groove, yet made u force urself to bust a move while providing variety adn not restricting his playlist mostly to tracks on his own record label out of which 95% cant be IDed cos they arent even released yet so dirty while throwing in some flavour of other genres and were able to more than just beatmatch, crossfade and fiddle with that bass knob on the mixer....that would be an experience...the crowd but of course will love it cos the crowd is there for the dj

however in light of such art, a few names out there do exist...Sasha, Zabiela, Holden, Freeland, damn the list goes on of way more skilled djs...

in short, tiesto is overrated...doesnt neccessarily suck...but is overrated
