Who did 8 and 9? Misja Helsloot? I love 8 and 9, as well as 6 and 7.

+1....

also, if you were still wondering, TiT is short for a tranceaddict in training. Welcome to the family. Oh and, never speak of the evil McProg

Most standard pieces of advice about forum etiquette have been posted, so I won't add to it.

One thing I will strongly advise you to do is explore the past. So many of the conflicts and tragedies here stem from a lack of knowledge of where trance has already been. New material is easy to find. Make the effort to dig back and discover the quality that was (and still could be).

Also, it doesn't hurt to repeat that you should search the forums. Here, I'll say it again: search the forums. Learn how to use the search function. It's extremely valuable, and you will be able to find information on most subjects.

So stay away from it. Go back a few years and listen to the older stuff, it'll do you good.

Luke, don't listen to this moron. Do like Gholy Host told you. It is a good way to start listening to trance. With your described preference, if you listen to what Ory does, you will fall asleep. Don't let anybody make you listen to a specific style. That is one of the things that I hate about these forums. Other than that, it is a crazy and happy place.

Oh and welcome. Enjoy your stay.

i agree with what the person above has just said. listen to what you want, whether it be tiesto, gdjb or asot or whatver, and ignore the people on here who tell you otherwise. most of them have at one point liked the same stuff anayway, and now think theyre too cool for school. its only music.

I agree as well, though to be fair many of these people liked trance when it was different and it's understandable why they don't like the new stuff. Still, don't let anyone tell you're not allowed to like something, no matter how many threads get hijacked about it.

It's about first impressions. Think about it.

Okay. This isn't the 'New Release' forum, is it? I thought it was just the general 'Music Discussion' forum.

Those were merely some friendly tips and hints before you were going to start a new thread. "Recommend me tracks like these" and similar threads have most likely been discussed before, and a search will easily give you the answers you want.

im not trying to anger anyone, im just curious when i ask this

why, for those who say trance sucks, do you post at tranceaddict???

It doesn't make much sense to me for you to waste your time...im sure you have better things to do than look at people cream themselves over ASOT tunes

I agree a lot of stuff is crap, but there's a lot of good out there too

But for those who hate trance now, go somewhere else...i say this for your benefit, cus ur just gonna get pissed off here and flame. You should spend your lives doing better things

thanks for the tip, chip.

Just 3 hours later after your post... A Thread was born.

Choons similar to 'Tiesto - Adagio for Strings'

Posted by criticalpath on Jan-22-2005 07:16:

My advice for you is to listen to livesets of raves/parties and then look at the tracklisting. You'll find songs that you'll like and go from there. Another benefit is that you'll be up to date with current music trends. The CDs that others mentioned are good too. I'm sure you'll find other genres that interest you too, and if you ever need recommendations on tracks, we're here to help!

BTW, don't let others dictate what music you should listen to.

As opposed to telling him he is allowed to like something?

Yes, considering that a number of people on these forums make every possible effort to trash McProg,American Progressive, whatever name you want to call it.

Are you a fucking dumbass? I told him to look into older trance. And why would he fall asleep to fucking techno? You're not making any sense at all, as usual.

Drop dead already.

So? What difference does it make but to you? What difference other than offending your established musical tastes? I am sure that if the threadstarter wishes to give it a chance he is smart enough to listen to it and decide for himself, regardless of what anyone says here.

Well actually there's been a number of people who have said the same thing I did, so it's not just me. You, him and everyone else obviously can listen to whatever they want, but there's no way you can deny that a lot of people look down on certain types of music on here, so I was just giving my advice to have an open mind to everything. If you hear from others that something is really bad, you may never even give it a chance and not form your own opinion.

He doesn't have to take advice from anyone if he doesn't want to, but I thought I'd give some since he said he's new and other people had done so. I respect the fact that you have different tastes and if he doesn't like what I do either, I respect that too.

And if I had told him to stay away from DJ Sammy would you have countenanced my statement as well?

I don't like DJ Sammy myself, but if someone asked my opinion of him, I would hope they would not take what I say as absolute fact, since music is a subjective thing. They may ultimately come to the same conclusion, but I think each person can make up their own minds. If you have a different philosphy, that's fine, there's no right answer or single way to look at things, so maybe the threadstarter may take your advice over mine. All I can do is offer a suggestion

Most people joined the boards as trance lovers, but natually all taste evolve. Overtime, tranceaddict has become more of a general EDM forum, rather than specifically a trance one...and thats why I "waste" my time here.

Listen to psychadelic if you want your head blown off, tech if you wanna dance, prog if you want to chill, techno if you you dont like melodies, breaks if your bored of 4x4 beat, armin van buuren if you like dutch supersaws and sasha if you wanna be cool (or is it sash! i can never tell the difference)
