They should ban clubs and bars and school playgrounds and sandlots and most of all they should ban those sensor controlled water taps in the washrooms in the clubs... they never stay on long enough and you're left there with soap on your hands waving like a madman for the thing to start up again.

Banning clubs is actually quite an easy arguement if you follow the reasoning behind other bans that are currently happening. So how about it? Let's see everyone apply the same logic of banning everything else to something that they love do to. |
)
Clubs should be banned because they are a haven for drug traffickers and give people an easy place to get their fix and easily OD.
People drink at clubs and some people tend to get violent while drunk, fights occur and people get hurt.
Red Bull is sold in clubs and Red Bull is bad for you because the stats show that if you drink 24 red bulls in 25 seconds you might get a sore stomache.
Gang fights happen at many clubs and shootings, stabbings and just plain beating someone to death happen regularly.
People smoke in clubs even with the anti smoking laws, and that's a public health risk.
Most clubs are filled past capacity and if a fire were to occur or other serious accident, many of the people in the club could die or be seriously injured. There is also the risk of heat stroke because of the heat generated by so many dancing bodies, electrical equipment, and dehydration from the consumption of alcohol.
Men grope women in clubs, for their own safety, women should be banned from clubs until this 'legislation' is passed as well.

You can still smoke all you like, but now it's respecting the non-smokers and not subjecting them to it. SUV's can easily be replaced with something more efficient and o-zone friendly .It is people like you who do not want anything to change that will keep things the same way: going straight to the toilet. If you hadn't noticed, our society and planet are in a shambles, and finally someone is trying to patch things up. Change is not necessarily a bad thing. |

Spam: your line of logic is exactly the same as what other people use to ban the topic de jour. And to allow that kind of thinking to continue unchecked means that one day (sooner than later) that thinking will land on our doorsteps. Dont think it wont. It was this line of thinking that led to the big rave meltdown of 2000.
And you know how a total meltdown was eventually avoided? UNITY which is what i preach all the time. If enough people got together and wanted some change, change would happen. If it hadnt been for the protest raves at city hall i dont think mel and julian would have realized the power in numbers that the rave community has (or should i say "had")
This is why i cannot support most kneejerk reactions calling for banning of certain things. Even though im not a smoker and i dont own pitbulls i feel that it's just not right. And although it may benefit you in some small way this time around it sets precedents down the road and the same technique can and will be used against the things in society that you hold dear.
I wonder how many pitbull owners supported the no smoking laws for example? hmmmm
Its all related folks. It's all about the big picture.
PS: my cousin was bitten by a chihuahua about ten years ago. Wound went quite deep as well.

Jay: I knew EXACTLY what you were getting at, which is why I made the fecetious Red Bull comment and the last line about girls getting groped
It's funny, because we learn about this very thing in History when they quote that guy from the WW2 era who says something to the extent of:
"First they came for the Jews, but I did not raise my voice, for I was not a Jew.
Then they came for black people, but I did not do anything, because I was white.
Next they came for (what? I dunno I'll say...) Christians, but I said nothing, for I did not believe.
Then, they came for me, and by then, no one was left to defend MY cause."
It's exactly the same with things like pit bulls, the rave scene, smoking, etc. Sure, it may be hazardous, but make sure the warnings are there, and after that, let the people decide for themselves. I've no problem with the anti smoking legislation except that it bans the use of indoor smoking rooms. Who the hell is it bothering? Employees? Find a new job, it really ISN'T that hard unless you're a fucking moron. Patrons? I see the smoking signs, I choose not to enter, it's EASY!
