It was'nt pat pat pat

I'm pointing out, forget listening to the people who say it won't work. Everything I've done in life for the most part, someone said it would not work, so the heck with the naysayers. I was also pointing out that 2% of valid ideas, usually turn out to be the best and I was also saying that you should try new things that other sites don't attempt. I was refering to the fun I had with so i married a dj, not to say look at me, I'm the greatest, but to say it was designed to push the envelope and it worked by fluke.

it's okay, just don't bother us again.

is there a deadline for this?

Other details about the selection

Ok, I few other things you should know if you apply:
- There are 2 rounds of selection: in the first one, potential writers will be chosen based on what they submitted. I am not sure how many, but at least 10.
-In the second round, these 10 people will receive an assignment. I can't tell you what it is (suprise! ), but somehow it has to do in part with what torontotrance was saying about innovation etc.
- We have absolutely no prejudices against nationality, color, race, sexual orientation, size of feet etc. We choose based on your writing ability, style, personality, and complementary skills.
-Deadline: not estabilished yet, but sometimes next week, depends greatly on the number of applications we get. I will post it when we decide so check back. Applicants will receive an email notifying them of whether or not they are selected for the second round.

That said, the writing should reflect somehow the philosophy we follow for our music: classic sets and well known DJs, but also premieres of new productions, underdogs, and music that somehow pushes the boundaries of the genre(s). This means that the content will include some "classic" piece, such as news, of course, reviews and interviews... but together with new original projects that hopefully nobody has done before, and that people would be interested in reading.

If you are selected, you will have to collaborate closely with the crew (especially me) and write what the site needs regularly, but there will be plenty of space for innovation and creativity, so yes, this is a great opportunity for displaying your talents.
This was long...

Do you ever publish articles from freelancers? I'd be interested in submitting stuff occasionally but I can't apply for a reg. staff position right now.

Posted by Ian on Jan-28-2005 11:31:

I think the way it's being chosen could be bad tbh

I've been hiring ppl for ivibes.nu for a long time and I'd rather pick someone who's very knowledgable about the music and passionate but not as great a writer than somebody who is an immaculate writer but without a good grasp on the music knowledge. just my opinion anyway

Passion is definitely more important. Key to a good site is knowledge proper facts. Good writing comes second.

Well, to answer your question, you need both: on one hand, ppl need to be able to write something in decent English without me having to revise and proofread everything (especially since I'm not around 24/7)... also, style is important, because you want to publish something interesting and well written, not a jumble of ideas and mistakes...
On the other hand, the more these ppl are passionate and knowledgeable, the better... I mean you can always learn but to a certain extent... you cannot do a good job unless you're motivated to write about something you know and like...

Thanks for all the application submissions so far!

We need a few more before we can continue with the selection process, keep 'em coming.
