True that, if this wasnt daft punk no one would give a crap, period.
tru. but, doesent it seem kind of like they are trying to make a new genere. maybe I am thinking to deep into this.
I would.
THIS CD IS UNREAL! Ive been a Daft Punk fan for years, newer hipper funkier beats!
havnt had a chance to grab it yet but i defenatly will...homework is what got me into edm, is it anywhere near as good as homework cuz notin else they have done has come close to it from them in my mind
It's a lot different. But if you approach it with this knowledge, and an open mind, odds are you will like it a lot. I do.
I still consider Discovery to be their most untouchable album though.
I have mixed feelings about this album after hearing it for the first time. My general impression is that the tracks are harder and less 'housy' than the ones in Discovery and Homework. I like what I hear, and there are no bad tracks. But I must admit that I miss that house sound they've had in their previous productions. Their new direction is still nice though.
As stated earlier in this thread, this music needs time, lots of it. This is music that will grow on you, atleast Homework and Discovery did. I think Human After All will do that too.
Favourite tracks so far: Technologic, Television rules the nation, Emotion
I'm still to hear this.
Overall I feel this album is a bit of success; not entirely magnificent, but like a couple of you have stated here already there seem to be a copule of very creative tracks. I particularly like Technologic and Emotion.
It does seem, like one of you wrote, that they seemed to return to their roots and created a Homework-esque album - very repetitive, simplistic, but put beautifully together. This is the avant-garde Daft that I remember. I'm kind of glad they returned to that formula as opposed to continue with the Disco vibe that they poured into "Disco""Very" album (which I still happened to live very much).
The only think that I really, really disliked about this album was the fact that the average song duration is about 5 minutes long. It seems like the song is over before I can really get into it.
All I've heard is Technologic. Yeah, I like it. I smell much use of this accapella in the coming months.
This album couldn't be any worse.
Talking about "Homework", am I the only one whose favourite tracks are "High Fidelity" and "Ingo Silver Club"?
High Fidelity is one of my favourites too.
Am I the only person who thinks that the fake/demo/prerelease track on ishkurs site is still better than all of the tracks on the actual album?

| Originally posted by DJ Chrono Rollin' & Scratchin' was the greatest song ever. There was some mix of it in 'tomcraft - live at trance energy 02.15.03' Actually I think it's the original with a couple new hihats thrown on top, I don't remember hearing it in any other livesets though. Oh and I've heard a few tracks off this new album and I am very disappointed with what I've heard. |

| Originally posted by Lira I heard Daft Punk playing it live in a videoclip and they did play it with one or two other tracks in the background... it was amazing. |

This album is absolutely brilliant. Bangalter and Guy-man yet again succeed in pushing the boundaries of electronic music forward. It's so different from Homework and Discovery, but still so Daft Punk!
i have always liked what daft punk has created, this is no different. some highs and lows of the album for me:
+
i luv the opening track, "human after all". this is my favourite track on the whole album. it is very funky and is a perfect opener to the album. my other 2 favourites are the slower, more chillout tracks on the album: "make love" and "emotion". "make love" has a cool little rift that is stuck in my head. "emotion" is a nice dreamy and gentle track to take the album out with.

some of the other tracks i found to be a bit repetitious and there wasn't really anything exciting or unique about them. one of the tracks i liked the least is "steam machine". it seems like the same loop over and over for the whole duration of the song. a couple of the other tracks are like this too.
all in all, its a decent album. is it the best they've done? no, definitly not. lets just hope it doesn't take them so long to make another album!
reviving the thread, because i was just listeing to old daft punk, and holy shit they are fucking good. why did those assholes only spend 6 weeks on that latest CD. what a fucking waste of time. im writing them an email, and telling them to spend more time and be more creative on teh next one, not like they give a shit but it would make me feel better.
LIKE WTF IS THIS http://daftpunk.com/ watch that shit and lol. wheres the cool anime ( only anime i ever enjoyed) they really took their skills and pooped on them then put it on a cd and burned copies. fuck im mad.
They're incredibly over-rated anyway. Looping a bar of 70s funk and sticking vocoders over it doesn't make them musical geniuses, contrary to what dance music press will tell you.
