-- Poll: do you only listen to EDM?
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
I wouldn't say it is the only thing I listen to, but lately it seems to be.
I go through phases where it will be the only thing I listen to, then I will switch it up for a bit and listen to rock or alternative
The only thing I listen to is EDM.
I guess an exception to that rule would be Coldplay, and some classical. Other than that, it's only electronic music.
Les gros beats qui pse lourd...
There's too much good music out there to just stick to EDM. So, the answer for me at least is No.
75% of the electronic music out there is complete crap anyway, so just restricting yourself to it means you're not only close minded, but probably also suffer from lack of taste as well.
Alt Rock, Underground Hip Hop, RnB, Chillout, Trip Hop, Blues to name just a few.
I also listen to Euro, Rock, some Hip-Hop, and ambient.
I almost listen to EDM exclusively... but i also love to listen to euro
and I listen to certain non-edm groups/singers too
most noteably Blink 182 (my all time favourite!!) and Delta Goodrem... <--- i just fuckn LOVE her voice... its soo bloody beautiful...
i also enjoy hearing most Sum 41 songs and I love almost all of Eminem's songs too... speaking of that, i really need to buy his latest cd
Chillout and ambient are still types of electronic music... I guess this is where the whole debate over the use of the term "EDM" comes in, because they aren't dance music but they really are part of the same basic genre.
I won't get bored of EDM because I listen to more than just the meat and potatoes. Most people here swear by trance or house; I also indulge in D'n'B, breaks, techno, chillout/ambient, experimental/IDM, psy, and sometimes the old school rave stuff (whatever genre you want to call that). There's SO MUCH good stuff out there, I don't see how anyone could ever get bored of electronic music in general.
I've already been through all the "phases" - rap, euro, pop/top40, alternative, punk, metal, etc. I can't picture myself going back to any of those. Once in a while I'll listen to underground hip hop or something classical, but that's about it.

ALL types of electronic music, rock, pop, eighties, alternative & classical...I don't like hip hop,R&B,rap & country but thats because I wasn't brought up with that.My oldest brother got me into all the music styles that I like
I listen to anything BUT country and shite rap. By shite i mean your average MTV rappers (i.e. mean most rap, there are few left that i like)
Besides that i enjoy raggae, some punk, led zep, pink floyd, etc.....
when i have the choice myself, i almost always choose EDM, sometimes i listen to jazz tho...
i like edm the best but i also listen to alot of 80's....old rap like from early 90's n 80's....some rock. thats pretty much it
I listen to hip hop & r&b the most, i prefer it over the rest. I'm very selective with my dj's for house/trance.. Armin Van Buuren, Antoine Clamaran & Erick Morillo is pretty much all i can handle.
Not just edm for me.
I listen to it the most, however I also like good old rock and or roll(various types...metal,punk, alternative etc)
Also catch a little classical here and there.
rap/hip hop on the radio is the worst shit ever.
not a fan of much pop either..maybe a song here and there though
everything for me as well - an open ear is key - although people use music as a way of defining themselves - the images now are more diverse and/or scarier than ever.
the days of walking into a music store and buying an album based on no more than the album cover and song titles - I have learned so much this way - i say this was an integral part of my musical education.

if I listened to EDM all the time, I might go nuts.

Bump
yes theres enough genres to keep it fresh for me.
absolutely not!
I actually haven't even downloaded a new set in 2 yrs. I periodically listen to the old sets I have on long drives up to the cottage and newer stuff when at friends places, but for the most part it is all classic rock for me and maybe some of the new stuff that is out.
It mostly depends on where I'm driving. If its a far trip its usually a edm set. If i'm staying in my area its classic rock, mid to late 90's and early 2000 hip hop or rock.
(i listen to most of my music in the car)
EDM is definitely my top choice. I like a number of genres too, so if I get sick of one, listen to another.
I do listen to other styles of music though. Punk, oldies (especially 80s), big bands, <3 Frank Sinatra, early '90s alternative, NKOTB, Michael Jackson, jazz. I love music in general.
It makes the world go round
