Hey George!

Any comment is welcome of course. I always like to focus more on melodic parts rather than filling things up with effects... Got a bit of a nostalgic feeling responsible for that

I did cut down the high freqs a bit more in my more recent tracks, because it felt really harsh when listening to some older tunes with my new headphones... Dunno if it's related to that, though normally I wouldn't say no to some good sharpness in the track. Will definately keep looking further on that matter.

Cheers for the comment on my remix mate

Bye,
Wim

Hi!!

For me this remix i very, very good!! I like it!!

Good Job!!

Sounds incredible man. In all honesty I'm sick of people saying it sounds like its from a certain date (1999 in particular). I really dont give a shit what it sounds like, as long as it sounds good. And this, my friend, sounds good.

Lots of great sounds. I like the subtle stuff, like that little gurgle thing at 2:28ish. Nice melody, very fat sounds in the breakdown.

Great work man, I always love your stuff.

Hoi Wim!

Another quality track i presume, so let's have a listen

Those vocoded "Aah"s always grab me, great! Nice kick and bass, EQ-ing is so facking tight. I'd wish I had your mixing skills. Tho, like mentioned before, a little additional fatness could help. On the other hand, it's deep flat and tight and it carries along nicely. Nice drive. Break now. Good. As George said, some more fxs could make this even better. Personally I'm not too fond of the lead, it has this lower sound which I don't really like.

Great typical Icone track again, thumbs up! I read on your site you have some new releases coming. Congrats m8, surely deserved.

Cheers
-Jay

how can you get confused between us???
Anyway awsome lead.
The pluckes are overused.
I think you should use more fxes.
Now the lead is on the right level!
I think the bass is a bit low when the lead comes so in another thought lower it just a bit bit bit!
More precs are really needed here

Ok wim it's time to replace sounds.
You can get pepole very bored from you if you use the same sounds (like ron van den buuken for example).
Try new things. Program new sounds. Try writing leads in another way. Not just arp leads. Always try to get something new, always try to improve yourself.

Wim this is again getting 4/5 becouse of the lack of originality.
Have a nice day,
Omer Katz (aka The REAL Darkone)

Everything sounds great to me - except the kick - which just sounds daft to me.

i don't think anyone can get like him.. every freaking song i have heard sounds like pretty much exactly the same

hehe

Omer: sorry to have you confused hehe, no offence... Didn't do that on purpose if that's what you were thinking.

I do like to work with these sounds, so it's hard to really abandon them. It's not that they're bad though, are they? Because you say I can only improve to use other sounds... Again, those plucks weren't my main focus, they were just put there to make it fuller. Again, my main focus isn't on overloading with fx'es. Again, I'm not trying to be original, only myself

RickyM: thanks mate! I know about the kick, will maybe do an edit afterwards if I find the time.

dbl: couldn't say exaclt,y I've only heard a couple (read: 2) of tunes from him...

I was joking about that

I know you do like to work with the same sounds and pepole recognise you because of those.
But listen to another production say by solar stone. They didn't use the same lead sound twice.
I never did that.

I didn't say you should overload, add two or three more.
Becouse all of the sounds are always the same make it more interesing with more variaty of sounds.

What will heapen if you'll try another sound?
I mean re-make the style and make something totaly new.
Then make some tracks with that and with your old one.
And then make another one... and another one...
I didn't say they were bad, It's just after a while it gets boring to hear the same sounds.
Originality is part of producing.
Originality is a part of yourself.
Airbase quited making trance because he didn't have more originality.
Same thing with you, you'll get bored from it somewhen.

p.s. check the trance.nu review on H&J's track you remixed, the new one. They said the original sucked, but yours was nice but it was NOTHING NEW!

Enjoy the day,
Omer Katz

Well, it's never nice to be forced to do something else

I personally can't stand people who don't let you just be yourself... There's nothing wrong with that, no? It's not that if one person gets tired of something, other will too - or at the very end, I will.

Posted by staticblue on Feb-02-2005 13:20:

there's nothing wrong with it IMO

it's fine for me if you keep up with your current style, i love your sounds you know, like a lot of other people here.

Posted by The Drow on Feb-02-2005 14:10:

I do love the sounds, don't get me wrong.
This is just my review. I don't want to and can't force you to do anything.
I'm tellin you don't be yourself but this is the only way you see your music. If so I'm not going to force you.
Thats just my thoughts, don't get angry.

Have a great day,
Omer Katz (aka The Darkone)

usual icone quality + sounds

im really not a fan of the main synth tho, sounds fairly software/cheap compared to the rest of the track

Posted by Icone on Feb-02-2005 18:12:

Static: This is the kind of music I like to make, therefore I find it hard to deviate from it... Alot of experimenting often brings me back to this style.

Omer: I'm not angry at all, just a bit tired of it because you're telling me this everytime... I did try some things ala 'A World Of Ice' and 'A World Of Fire', perhaps I should make sort of a track like that again. Experimenting and getting a track done in a totally different style just takes some time and patience I think

Luke: thanks mate! Glad you like it. Can you tell me what I should change to the lead to make it sound more distinctive?

Cheers,
Wim

I already told you I liked them very much.
I know it takes time, and some creativity (and you have a lot of it) and patience.
And next time I won't say anything about it ok?

Anyway keep it up!

just change the synth and eq it a bit more to stand out rather than sit back, it's more personal preference than anything else mate

Posted by Icone on Feb-02-2005 20:33:

Omer: Didn't know you really liked those I'll make one like those again, just have to think of some ideas...

Luke: I'll see what I can do. I don't know if I will edit this remix anymore, will keep it in mind.

Cheers,
Wim

nice stuff wim
like the synths and pads. the arping bass is good too, and the vocal fx.

crashes/reverses would be nice if different.
pretty massive trance here!!
