I'm sure he was just as mortified as the rest and I'm not making up 'excuses' for the guy.
You guys are right; he should have had his proper attire for such an important historic event.
Far-be-it (sp?) for me to assume the guy is human and forgot his winter jacket and boots.
But the point is, he showed up, despite his fashion faux-pas...

| Originally posted by Michael19 its a fucking stupid point. the fact he didnt wear black isnt the problem, its the jacket he is waering thats the problem, he looks like hes at a football match. If the jacket was black people would still be complaining. It shows a lack of respect, and if you cant see that, then your thick. |

I'm sure it wasn't intentional and I think some people need to think logically for a second before jumping to conclusions. Lets think about this, where else is an American diplomat going to get a winter jacket at the last min.? I think the situation is a lot simpler than some of you are making it out to be. |

| Originally posted by Michael19 of course it wasnt delibrate. i doubt he woke up that morning and said "i know, will wear these stupid clothes just to piss people off" its shows lack of respect though, you cant deny that. It shows a lack of cop on and planning also. surely this people would bring a spare suit?! i mean its not like he cant afford to buy them! |
maybe there is some reason he wore that particular jacket. Im not a military expert but I think the eagle symbol on his jacket is the unit mark for an american airborne division. I saw an american film called Band of Brothers and the airborne unit in the film helped liberate a concentration camp at the end of World War 2.
So maybe he is saying (by wearing the jacket) that the USA also played a part in putting an end to the final solution.
Cheney can't seem to understand he's not the SecDef anymore I reckon and OD ain't cool these days when he's VP. Oh well, looks like he stayed warm.
