"A few months ago a guy called Christian Rusch joined the official ATB forum where he introduced himself and mentioned that he would like to do something with The Fields of Love. He is one half of the dance act Rusch & Murray (Greg Murray) ('Epic' is available on The DJ 1) Christian Rusch has confirmed that he has created a new version of The Fields of Love which is being released on 12" later this year, its even possible that there will be a Chicane remix. We'll bring you more news as we get it!"

Well, unfortunately, and I'm sorry to burst peoples' bubbles (although I know quite a few of you are happy as hell to hear it, and I respect and fully understand that), but I've not even started the remix and I've never gotten any kind of offer to release a remix of F.O.L. on vinyl. I do however love the original, so if I can get my hands on the vocal samples, I would be more than happy to lay my heart and soul into making a remix of it as I've been thinking up ideas for a possible remix since I first heard the track many years ago.

ATB said some time ago he would never remake a tune ever!

Well seems he forgot

i aint heard the track yet but it sounds shit

Thumbs up

"Fields of Love" ----> great track with awesome melody. Hey if anyone can give a deep twist to it towards a more progressive side... then who am I to stop them.

Go on and do your thing!!!

Hey I loved that song too, don't know what's up with people getting on ATB, its not like he is Scooter, cmon, at least many of Tanneberger's remixes has some melody to them and are not downright shitty. Just my opinion though.

great opinion

the original sounds like one huge train wreck (its a bit cluttered)

i personally always prefered the js 16 vs darude mix (less congested)

this should be intresting none the less though

He more or less introduced himself, asked if Greg and I would be interested in remixing some of his work and expressed his fondness of Epic. Kindof cool to have an "idol/fan"-in-one.

I'm sorry, I generally dislike flaming people for their opinions, but as this hardly qualifies for a proper opinion, I must say that the above quoted comment is down-right laughable (or pathetic, take your pick).

Clearly, i doubt that.

No wonder people think trance is dying.

Can't help but feel that these two above quoted deserve a huge f.u. It seems you think we make big money from music, which is so ridiculously wrong. Secondly, trance is "dying" because MP3s have kindof killed off the compilation scene and because pretty much every mainstream artist who wants a play on ASOT makes trance tunes along the format of what's popular atm instead of honing their own style. Everything sounds the same...

So before I finish off with a second f.u. I'd just like to clarify that I wouldn't dream of releasing something just to make money. If I don't feel that the remix is better than the original or adds something completely different, then it's not ending up on vinyl, e.o.d.

Best regards and f.u. again.

i admire you for your mature Atitude in this thread, your words are very true and i 2nd you with what you say.
people like you are the only way for any music, people who flam are just absolute disgrace to the edm community.

people these days is all about fuc%^$g popularity, where is the originality and praise for ones work.

people who think they r top shit and bag other peoples productions, maybe you should all think again in a different context.

because not all is what it seems.

peace

I find it funny that Christian totally ignores the majority of the peoples comments regarding remakes.

People are blinded by the hype and the trend.

Posted by RebeL9 on Apr-24-2005 14:12:

and besides Christian. Not only mp3 kills trance. Endless stream boring remakes of old tunes kills the scene.
In the end its not you the producer who judges the production but we the listeners. And 99% of all remakes got a thumb down. I bet all the remixers who made them thought they were great.

Posted by Blast_dan on Apr-24-2005 14:35:

Personaly i would love to hear a remix of this song, i loved the original and even though its late an improvements on even the earliest of songs is appreciated.
I respect what hes doing as well. Hes not doing this to gain popularity but to do what hes dreamed of doing for 3 years now.
and i still dont get why people dont want remix's of songs, especialy songs as great of F.O.L. what a beautiful song.

Posted by noikeee on Apr-24-2005 14:58:

actually, why are people angry about this remake? the track is shitty in the first place, it can only be improved

Yes, but the difference is, I could care less if they give it a thumbs down or not. I write music for myself and if other people like what I do, then that makes me all the happier, if they don't then that's unfortunate, cause I still like what I do. If more people than just myself like the tune I make, it may end up on vinyl, if not, then most likely not. And trust me, not all remixers think their remixes are great. To quote an ASOT producer many of you love, "who cares, cash is king".

As for remakes, I know lots of them are utter crap or should never have been made, but at the same time, most of these remixes and remakes are made adding just something to make them sound current, instead of rewriting the whole damn song in order to make a new piece of music. I don't do the current sound in the first place, so yeah...

Posted by RebeL9 on Apr-25-2005 12:18:

I actually prefer entire revampings of tunes rather than just updating them. Something more remixers should bare in mind (i.e. Ferry Corsten as for his remix of Synaesthesia)

It sounds shit but you haven't heard it?! That's a double standard if I've ever seen one.
