No it's not. I've been with them for over 4 years and never had a problem with reception, clarity, or customer service.

The ONLY bad things about Telus are their lack of support for some of the latest and greatest phones (Motorola V600/V710) and their *slightly* costlier plans.

And yes, for those who constantly push the unfounded idea that GPRS is somehow a superior technology to CDMA - it isn't, and it's as simple as that. It may appear that way because the GSM providers and their phones are better than what we have here, but that's a consequence of the market and NOT the technology.

Now if they could just get those SSMA/SSSMA technologies off the ground...

Why would I own a phone that I can't use with my service provider?

And assuming I could use it - what's wrong with buying a brand new phone? It's hands-down the best phone out there for use in Canada (excluding smart phones/converged devices).

it's interseting how the future of wireless networks will actually be a combination of features from both CDMA and GSM technologies..

but the CDMA signal definatley propagates better here.. altho when i was in Europe last summer, their GSM signal was stronger than anything i'd ever seen here.. i wish we had GSM coverage like that in Canada

i honestly dont get what the huge hype is over all these phones, it seems like every day my friends are exchanging or buying the latest phone

how many house phones have they exchanged in the last 10 years? probably 1 at the most

Of course, it's not just the technology, but also how well it's implemented. We could come up with a system 10 times more efficient than CDMA and GPRS combined but it's not worth a damn if there's only one station in the whole country... GSM is just designed for different circumstances and it's implemented better in Europe than the CDMA networks are here.

SSSMA is the future since it adds an entire extra *dimension* to the encoding - which increases coverage exponentially. I guess we just don't have the technology to implement it yet. I watched a few presentations about this in my 4th year university, so apparently it's still sort of in the academic stage even though there is proof of concept - maybe it'll be the "4G" (with the GPRS/CDMA hybrids more of a "3�G").

telus has been selling the 710 since mid december...i personally sold 3 of those while working for telus

I have Fido & telus and thinking of getting a phone with rogers as well, i had no problems with either, bottom line its got to work.

and i just bought a Motorola Razr nice phone though! i just havent got a chance to use it.

i got it on ebay for cheap actually paid 500$ CAD only


the way i look at it is all these contract etc is all B.S by the time your contract is over, they recovered 3 x the cost of the entire phone, thats why i dont buy them from the providers any more.

All I gotta say is I love rogers, bought a rogers pay as you go phone 5 years ago, nokia big brick phone, put the first card in and for five years haven't paid a penny...they screwed up, i get free service for the last 5 years and its still working, in this instance the kind of phone u got really doesn't make a difference...once again thanks rogers
