anyway you can have variation without changing the time signiture, you can program some really wierd drums without changing the entire time signiture, its one of the things that is the basis to pretty much all EDM, in fact i challenge someone to come up with a track that is considered as EDM which isnt 4/4 (and when i say 4/4 i mean 4 crotchets to a bar) and triplets dont count, because they are still within a 4/4 bar, just each beat is divided into three triplets.

One thing i do like is when you get odd phrases like 7 bar or 9 bar phrases instead of your normal 8 bar ones. sometimes you get 6 bar ones which almost sound like there is no defined begining or end, it just flows as a circle and the riff seems indefinate, i love that.

this is true. and goa still does exist, one of my buddies moved to goa india for 3 months this term to visit family and he keeps sending me cd's and stuff he buys there. some amazing goa from people i have never heard of. psy is also really really good. ive been listning to alot of buttrock goa lately (i know i know i used an ishkur genre but beyond the weird name its a legitimate subgenre) which is heavy metal and goa mixed up. interesting stuff. the ASOT style trance is killing the genre and no DEEP HOUSE IS NOT THE ANSWER... you really have two choices, start listning to trance form 6 years ago or move on to psy/goa...

Listen to some old stuff, theyre usually better than the new stuff coming out today.

That's the style I love best and the one I will love best forever

Psychedelic, Ambient & Techno are there and there's so much in each genre to get into that it could take you the rest of your lifetime.

Though to be fair, it's largely a matter of taste if you want to move into a different genre altogether. I prefer techno, myself, but trance isn't worth abandoning. Yet.

I can never get bored of electronic music, because I enjoy a variety of genres in EDM and I got just enough tunes to avoid repeating them often enough.

Try listening to variety of stuff .. like me:

House
Trance
Disco
Retro
Ambient
Space
Progressive
Techno
Acid Jazz
Smooth Jazz (not EDM)
Drum 'N Bass

and house/trance/techno classics is another very delicate thing I love ...

Try some harder stuff, it could be refreshing:

Praiseworthy Tunes - Passive Resistance (Hoipolloi remix)
Yoji Biomehanika - Hardstyle Disco

Check out lots of live sets and do some research on the tracks you like from said sets; I'm sure you'll figure something out.

i jsut cant imagine myself how u can be bored of trance, maybe get yourself new trance tracks or something? :> I don't know.. i can imagine that songs u already have are getting boring coz i know that from myself, but when it comes i look for new tracks to listen to..

You make it sound as if all music got boring and predictable, maybe it's just that a lot of electronic has for you. Try getting into some other genres (i really enjoy classic rock). Regardless there are some good tunes out there, you just need to find them and open your scope.

deep and melodic as it should be, those banging-stuck-in-an-industrial-percs-loop-forever tracks are boring
