I have a hard time swallowing a bands political commentary when they previously released a record named after a slang word for feces.

To me Green Day is nothing more than "Stiff Little Fingers" lite.

It takes real insight and courage to release a anti-Bush themed cd these days.

Almost as much as wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt.

Great news

I have a question for the die hard coldplay fans. I once saw a festival performance of coldplay aired on MTV. They played POLITIK it started with strobe light and this chris dude almost wrecked the piano. I'm looking for this mad video but I have no title/place only that it was Politik performed live. Anyone got info about this?

/edit I got a link to the video

clicky

Thanks dude, I did something wrong when I searched for this I used Politics to search for instead of Politik.

In fairness, Coldplay are nothing special. Sure, they sound better than most anything on commercial radio. Yes, they've done songs I like. But rock, just like electronic music, rewards exploration -- sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find the true gold. In the end, though, for a pop-rock band, you could do a lot worse... but that's not the highest of praise.

True,

It is not that they lack its rather an inditement on the state of rock music when they are headlining Coachella. Does seeing Coldplay really modivate you?

They are 2004's version of the Counting Crows.

And now I am getting off my soapbox.

they're just a very lucky band becuase they were pumping out original tunes these days when its extremely hard to make an original song.

not only were they original but they were also simplistic. they didnt have to have 100 instruments going at once to make it sound good.

and we all knew that a song like "Politik" was going to happen one day.

it had to happen.

and coldplay are the legends that created it.

thats my 5 cents

1st album was good . 2nd album was awesome .. what can the third album be ?? you can't top awesome, unless you have awesomest .. is that a word ???

Posted by meneedit on Feb-18-2005 00:25:

the third album is NOT gonna be flawless like the first and second.

there will be quite a few "not so original" songs on it.

I know it.
