i would play for free too.
just sent an email about the venue, we'll see what we can do
like i said before, I'll have a house in madtown in August... but that's a while down the road. another thing occurred to me also- anyone else imagining this meetup to be some giant sausage fest?

All this talk of "I'd spin for free..."
Was anyone really expecting cash?
Just so anyone knows where I'm coming from; If there's a crowd willing to listen, I'll spin as long as they'll listen, gratis.

In my (limited) experience in booking that's usually just the first thing one worries about. You mention a possible booking and the first question is how much will it cost. I'm nowhere near the point where I expect to get paid to spin. I just love playin records for people.
In retrospect the comment would read as if I feel I'm doing you guys some great service by playing for free (if I do) but that wasn't my intention.
and i would also much prefer a taco party to a sausage fest...

at the taco party! ladies 2 for 5...
get it together
I will play
No money, but I would expect to be flown in by helicopter a la Tiesto for my dramatic entrance and no one would be allowed to make fun of my trainwrecks or cheap headphones
Wow, sounds like you guys are really getting something big going. I hope this all works out on this level. I didn't know TylerC mixed also, but if his skills are even 1/10 of his production skills, that's worth going to hear alone. Jam, I'll try to listen to your set tomorrow night.
If you guys ever want to put something smaller together to practice mixing in front of people in Chicago I could probably set that up, though the crowd wouldn't be avid EDM fans. I can guarantee no one would be turning off the PA system or getting in fights over music though.
Keep the enthusiasm going!

| Originally posted by mrmsn Seneca - on a side note, maybe you should try to book the Cardinal here in madison. UWM and I would be there. [/edit] I know I just spoke for UWM out of turn, but i was speculation. |
i'm starting to believe he is a hermit, and the UWM i met last summer was only a figment of my crazy imagination. either that or someone who was hired to pretend he was UWM.
haha everyone in this forum is a comedian!

I'd for sure hit up the Cardinal.
i'd be down for some cardinal action as well, its a pretty good venue and i'm sure we could fill it up pretty quickly.
...although last time i was in there, i was a little freaked out b/c some dude asked me to pee in a cup for him to drink! honest to god

My records and I would definately attend such an event!
In fact, what does everyone think of this idea...
I (along with phreek who'll probably post soon), attend Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana (1 1/2 hours south of Chicago).
We help put together small EDM events on campus every month or so, and what I could do is put in the paperwork to reserve the entire gigantic Memorial Mall outside in the middle of campus for a whole Saturday when it gets warmer outside. We can't have anybody drinking on campus at such an event, but it would be a great opportunity to meet everyone and hear a lot of talent play. What does anybody think? I'd have to look into the details more but we've booked the mall in the past and it was great filling the whole campus with sexy beats!
As far as drinking, for all that are 21+, there are plenty of bars right down the street (walking distance) from the Memorial Mall that usually see some pretty good action on the weekends. crrrazydan and I, along with others in the Purdue Beat Society, would be interested in getting this event together if this sounds like something everyone would like to attend. Depending on the amount of people that show up, we could see about organizing some kind of after-party(s) later that night. I looks like plenty of people are willing to DJ and I'm sure there are several students who would be up for performing, but the success of this event lies in whether or not you TAs will show up
. If everyone's for this, we'll get it together.
West Lafayette is about...
1.5 hrs from Chicago
3 hrs from Milwaukee
1 hr from Indianapolis
2.5 hrs from Cincinnati
It's right off I-65. Indianapolis is pretty much right in the middle of the midwest and Purdue is right at an hr north of Indy on I-65.
"Build it and they will come..." Let's hope so
make sure to keep in mind what the noise ordinance / curfews are for events like that... is there a certain time it would have to end? is there limitations against having the music reasonably loud? would there be a charge for admission?
damn this is sounding like fun already
btw my weekly mix on www.lovetheweekend.com starts in about 20 mins (6 EST), show your support!
PBS has host events there before. It's not a problem. This event would most likely be free. We'll worry about all of that. You just get your asses to Purdue and we will take care of the rest.
