i thought the vocal was cool too.

Gating is realy nice, but the sample itself could be more varied in its modulation. "Oooh oooh ooh ooooooh," over and over gets kind of grating, especially in the higher frequencies.

I like your arping synth during the melody.

I'm gonna be straight honest mate... I'm not too fond of those vocal thingies. It's not really what I would have expected from you - at least for me it is.

I'm gonna keep listening to your other stuff a bit more until you bang something out again

Cheers,
Wim

No keep the vocals, they're really original and the bring a real good atmosphere to the track, maybe make m more subtle or put another filter on them, they're just a bit dry. Good to hear some fresh sounds!

Posted by .A.Y. on Feb-21-2005 13:53:

omg those vocals in the start are awesome!
but i think they a little bit too loud
really liked this track!
i think you should make more tracks on this style
you are really great in it

anyway good job, and be sure that im gonna buy your vinils

Posted by wrzonance on Feb-21-2005 19:18:

Solid kick. Hats sound good. And good melody. Wonderful atmospheric sound. In the beginning the vocal is a tad loud, but it evens out towards the next clip of the sample. And it sounds good.

Bass is good. Ahh making good basslines is tough.

Anyway, yet another good track by Sunquest. Keep it up man. .

Posted by Klangzentrum on Feb-21-2005 20:32:

yet another sunquest-production...aren't you sleeping sometimes?

nice stuttered vocal fx in the beginning...bit i think its a bit too loud...
i like the sine-sound...inspired by andy & adam?
sound quality is top notch, but a lack above 12.5khz!

im excited about the full track...again some awesome stuff...

Posted by d_vision on Feb-21-2005 20:37:

Nice!!!!!!
IMHO Strings on high octave needed...
Cheers!

Posted by EtherealSL on Feb-21-2005 23:08:

vox need to pushed to the back... they sound cool but when they hit the high notes, they sound very synthetic... get someone to sing those notes for ya, it'd sound much better

besides that, track sounds pro, keep it up

Posted by tylerc on Feb-22-2005 00:13:

i like the vocals, but they could stand to be reverbed a lil more just to drop em back a touch. i also think that note that the vocals hit in the 5th bar sounds a little funny. not so much the note itself, but the sound when it hits that particular note. love the progression, awesome bassline, awesome strings.

very pro sounding. the vocal thing is very original, so don't ditch it, just work with it.

Posted by Koris on Feb-22-2005 01:02:

the gated vocals are a bit dry, more delay and another kind of reverb ( try ir-1 it juste sounds ... wonderful ), it's the element i don't really like there, sounds a bit too cheesy to me but once again, persnoal taste.

the open hi hats could me more groovey and less conventional as well.

This is fucken tight! Good work. Could this be the start of a whiteroom style revolution? I hope not, but you've done an amazing job on capturing that style man. Vocals are... not quite right, but I'm sure your working on them.

Excellent pumping track. Can't wait to hear the final version.

You fat bastard!!
Not you, just your tunes

Posted by Sunquest on Feb-24-2005 14:49:

hey guys, i changed the vocals up a little, made it quiter, used a regular one note style... so please let me know what u think, is this better than before , good enough, or what the hell should i do?

Posted by .A.Y. on Feb-24-2005 15:11:

oh man what did you do to the lovely voice?!
you mosttt bring back the old one
this one is not good at all
also too bad you changed his notes..

Posted by State of Matter on Feb-24-2005 17:44:

This sounds much much much better to me. The old one was annoying, this is nice and relaxing. Good work.

Posted by Shepless on Feb-24-2005 21:14:

Read This!

I dont think the bassdrum fits with the track, I suggest you change it! I love the bass you got going though! Maybe turn down the sine/square synth too! Second part of sample reminds me of ronski speeds remix of protonic! That acid noise man, almsot spot on!

Keep at it mate!

Man, its getting there, but something about the vocals... I dunno, they sound overcompressed maybe? They arnt quite as distracting as the louder ones but they hardly sound like vocals now. Have you thought about using something like a vocoder or autotune on them?

Dont get me wrong, they sound good, but I think they could be better even.

There's this strange bit after the break at 1.05 where the vocals are really high and they drop down an octave. It sounds like they drop down a bar too late or something?

Posted by A83 on Feb-25-2005 02:16:

You need the Armin Van Buuren FM Compression sound...
