How do you manage to work on so many projects (G&D, Andain, Motorcylce, Josh Gabriel) at the same time and be so successful with them? Your last productions have proved it (Rachel Starr - Till There Was You "Gabriel and Dresden Remix", Nikola Gala - Swing 2 Harmony "Gabriel & Dresden Remix").

Before you remix a new track, after which criteria do you choose the track and is your topmost aim to produce a danceable track?

Gabriel & Dresden are mainly known because of their high number of remixes they have produced in the past and not because of there self productions. Is there a reson for that? Do you like working on remixes more than on completely new tracks?

I would like to know:

Is there any chance to get "Josh Gabriel - Alive" as we have heard it 2 years ago in the Essential Mix?

Posted by Reactic on Mar-08-2005 10:38:

will we be able to read the interview somewhere?

another thing I will to know:

Are there advantages for you because you are two persons? What are the advantages? Are there maybe disadvantages?

I like their remixes better than their original tracks in general.

Q. Are you conciously changing your style as you move along, or are you attempting to stick with the tried and true flavor you started with?

The new Motorcycle track is..

Motorcycle - My Blue Heart

They played it in LA last Saturday and Spundae re-grand opening at Circus. Decent track. Need to hear it a few more times to get a good impression.

Gabriel & Dresden Interview

- Is there gonna be an Andain or Motorcycle album?

(Josh) Well we're definitely gonna work on an Andain next single, thats one of the things we're doing. The problem is (this is the real problem), is that we're definitely artists that are effected by downloading.. we're not complaining about it, but we're definitely effected by downloads; and what that means is that recordcompanies, who traditionally would see a band like Andain and Motorcycle, and you know.. for 5 or 10 years ago would say: "hey here's some money to go, record an album!" They don't do that anymore.. and so, its extremely hard, even for people like us, to go and spend the time to make an album, because when you're making an album your not making any money?, are you?
(Toufas) Its like gamling..
(Josh) Well, its worse than gamling. you know what i mean..you dont start with anything and you hope you make something.. at least when you're gambling you start out with something, and you hope you make something more (Dave) With making an album, you know when you don't make any money on it, we really have to go out and start DJing as much as possible to pay the bills..
(Josh) and so we have less time to make music, and so.. its kind of a.. we're trying to figure it out. we're definitely gonna make another Andain single, the next Motorcycle single 'Around You'..

-When is it gonna be released?

Hopefully soon, it just got played in the Pete Tong show today.. so its gonna be released soon
(Dave) Its picking up a nice little healthy buzz.
-You think its gonna be the next 'As the Rush Comes' ?
(Josh) i dunno, we can never predict those things..
(Dave) We like it! just as much as we like 'As the Rush Comes' when we made it

-Are you gonna use any other vocalists except Jes?

(Josh)Yes, were always looking for new vocalists.
-Any Names?
Were working with someone right now whose name is Mali(?), who we just met, you dont know her from anything else, and she's amazing.

-Do you have any other artist you would like to work with?

(Josh) We have always wanted to work with U2.. we would love to work with Jacques Lu Cont, we really, really like him.
-Whos that?
Thin White Duke,Les Rythmes Digitales, Zoot Woman, he's got a lot of different names.. amazing producer!
(Dave) You'll hear a lot of his stuff tonight in our set.
-You have any U2 records?
(Josh) No, no U2 records (Toufas) no reworks or anything? cause i know you like to.. like,some..
(Josh) No, we didnt do any bootlegs on the U2 (Toufas) You should..(Josh) We should.

- Are you gonna change your style to anything harder or softer?

(Josh) We are always exploring new things, every song to us i different,so.. we dont really feel that we have any particular sound, allthough at the moment, we're feeling slower, rather than faster.
-Why is that?
Its hard to explain its just, the music we hear inspires us happens to be slower right now
(Dave) I happen to have gotten Axamon(?) wich is a satellite radio subscription, type of cable thing.. last year, and i discovered a lot of Rock, Indie Rock bands, and a lot of things came from here actually..wich i'm listening to and turning Josh into, and were all listening to it. so were also experienting with that in alot of ways in our music too.

-In your livesets, do you prepare the tracks or do you play whatever you want?

(Josh) Whatever we want, it really depends on the audience, what they are reacting to.. you know, the audience gives us a vibe, and we react on that vibe.

-Do you think there is a difference between the european and american scene?

(Josh) Theres a difference in every single club everywere, theres no one place, one country that's the same, i mean.. in America everything is different, in England every club is different, when we play at Turnmills its different than playing here tonight.. so i think every single club is different.
(Dave) And even when you play at the same club twice, there's sometimes a difference the first time we come than the second time.

-What is your favourite club?

Oh i guess probably the most consistant place we play, is "Lush" in Ireland (Josh) Yeah thats true!

Whats gonna happen to the Essential Mix version of 'Alive', everyone seems to like it?

I think that, what we'll probably do is, at some point, for people that sign up for our website (Toufas) Yeah,You told me at christmas that youre gonna give us some songs..)
(Josh) Some songs yeah, and i think that the Essential mix version of 'Alive' will be one of those songs..
(Dave) I still feel that theres a Gabriel & Dresden mix to be made of that aswell. (Josh) Yeah
(Dave) wich probably will be an Organized Nature release
(Josh)Yeah we're thinking of making 'Alive' an Organized Nature release. but eventially that version that was on the essential mix will see the light of day.. (Dave) I found the cd the other day (Laughing) play it tonite..

-Do you have anything else that gives you inspiration, except of other bands and people of course?
(Dave) Josh is an excellent cook! (Laughing) do you mean like musically or?
(Toufas)I mean inspiration that you have from your life..
(Josh) Listening to music gives the biggest inpiration.. (Dave) really, honestly, we dont have very much time to do anything else you know, Josh gets up at 5 o'clock in the morning and takes care of his kids and.. and then i show up at the studio around 10 and we work on music all day long until were ?? in the face, and then we go home and go to bed.

-Do you have any ideas before you go to the studio, or do you just or do you use whatever comes to your mind?

(Josh) We play with the elements we have, or dont have, and we sort of let them speak for themselves and manipulate things until we like what we're hearing. We dont really have anything set. (Dave) Plots do get lost sometimes.

-What are you gonna focus on now, producing or touring around the world?

(Josh) We're gonna keep DJ'ing, we're gonna consentrate on original material, wether thats Gabriel & Dresden, one of the artists we're working with or Andain or Motorcycle, we're gonna try to make more original stuff and do little bit less remixing, and also make sure that our label has music. (Dave) Get our website.. its being worked on right now. There's definitly gonna be a presence, that we're gonna have an internet presence, and maybe make stuff available through the website.. t-shirts, you know..what not?.
(Toufas) Put some livesets on if you can.
(Josh) oh definitly, there will be livesets, lots of things we have that.. we've been working on things, we haven't been ignoring them, its just that they take time.
(Dave) We're also gonna be producing a radio show..
-For an american station or european?
(Josh) For whoever who wants to broadcast it.
(Dave) We were just looking today in a magazine and reading about "Podcasting" (Josh) Yeah, we're gonna start "Podcasting" our mixes, wich basically means that everyone with an i-Pod or someting like that will be able to get our radio shows.
-For Free or?
For Free.
-Through i-tunes or?
not through i-tunes.. you'll see, we'll send out an e-mail, and you'll see..
(Dave) That's another thing, we're gonna start keep a lot more consistant touch with our fans, through e-mails..

(Toufas) they were telling that you're gonna read the.. because i put this on Tranceaddict as well. gonna tell me that you read the questions there, you answer them all (Laughing) (Dave) i.. i didnt..(Toufas) Because this is in Tranceaddict aswell.. to (Dave) ah, okey. (Toufas) to get more people, ?? questions

too bad they wont make an Andain album because of dl.. im gonna stop dl as from now on.. (or will i hmm) atleast im a big G&D fan so i will support them anyway buy buying their cds.. but its a shame it has to come to this..

great news that EM version of Alive will see the light, and their website being updated and new Andain single! yeay!
