What about smoke machines at clubs? Are they getting rid of those as well?
(i don't mean vending machines, i mean the ones that puff out massive plumes of god-knows-what that all the breathless dancers proceed to inhale)

Yup, the ban ( I think it's being imposed in 2007? ) is good for all involved.
You guys don't have to suffer at the hands of us selfish smokers.
And as a smoker not being able to smoke in clubs/pubs is going to cut out 95% of my cigarette intake, simply because I smoke mainly when I'm pissed and I'm pissed mainly in pubs + clubs.

haha suck shit dave
and isnt banging out the tunes providing enough fun?
Yeah!!!!!!
This is almost as good as the news of a John00 Solo tour in April. Fuck off the lot of you smokers, im so sick of you burning me on the dancefloor with those fuckarse dance routines that incorporate the cigarette into it.

| The introduction of the new laws mean that from 1 March 2006 in Victoria you can't smoke in most enclosed workplaces (this includes restaurants/cafes and shopping centres) covered train platforms, bus and tram stops and at underage music/dance events. From 1 July 2007 you wont be able to smoke in any enclosed licensed premises (including gaming rooms) in Victoria. |

stupid 24 hr patches. its great to be a non-smoker again. after 14 years!
smoking was banned in Tasmanian clubs from Jan 2005 and pubs & bars from Jan 2006.
Absolutely fantastic, IMO. Having to breathe disgusting air and have my contacts dry up in my eyes is not my idea of a fun night. It's amazing how quickly you get un-used to it, when I was in Melb for NYD and people were smoking at the Metro and even in a bowling alley I was reminded of how glad I am at Tassie's new law. Sure, there are some cranky people out there, but smokers have to realise when they smoke that others around them are forced to breathe in the stale second hand smoke. A big push behind the law was to protect the health of the hospitality workes. All very well for you smokers out there to tell them to 'find another job'
Pubs have reported a decrease in bar patronage and increase in takeaway sales, but afaik club nunbers haven't changed. Now there's just a big mob of people outside smoking on the footpath.
There's now a proposed law to ban smoking in cars, especially cars with children. My mother used to get cranky at me for opening the car window (to let her smokoe out) because she got cold or it messed up her hair. Whatever mum, I'll get more than cranky at you when you give me lung disease from all that passive smoking.
banning smoking in cars in bullshit. fuck, if they push it that far i might take it back up again.
here's the article. Adults can choose to smoke, but they shouldn't force it on others, especially their own children..
nah, fuck that. since when is it a govt\'s right to start dictating to people things like that? govts are becoming more and more oppressive and it shits me. to be consistent theyd have to ban drinking & smoking whilst pregnant too
