I like my last name and I am proud of my heritage, etc. However, I think that I would take the guys last name

UNLESS it is something dumb like Button

MY last name.

or there will be no marriage

The only problem I see with the hyphen approach is the mega long names...

I'm glad my full name isn't so bad, I know some porkchops with two middle names (lol)

I'm a porkchop but only have one middle name. I think that's plenty!

heres a question for you...what do you do when your name and the girls name are absolutely horrible and you don't want to use either but don't want to be disrespectful to the family.

Not a chance in hell i would keep my last name. I know too well what it's like to have to learn how to write a last name thats takes up half the friggin letters of the alphabet!
Although, in Belgium, i believe women must retain their maiden name. Sucks!

My kids would have my husband's name i believe. My grandkids would have... whatever their parents chose!

Posted by nycionx on Mar-04-2005 02:38:

u dont ask this kinda of question. the wife must always take the last name of her husband period.

Yeah. I'd be pretty upset if she wanted to hyphenate it or something. It's like it isn't good enough for her. Fuck that noise.

I agree.

As for my wife's last name, I'd rather she took mine so my parents don't throw a fit. But I have no problems with her hyphenating as long as the kids have my last name.

Posted by phoenixBEBE on Mar-04-2005 03:08:

hehe this shouldnt be so complicated. i guess id take my hubby's last name...

ive heard of couples who decide to do away with each other's last names, and take on a totally different one altogether. hmm imagine what the parents must think lol

Posted by Cosmopolitan82 on Mar-04-2005 03:16:

I'm an old fashioned girl.. definitely take my husbands name.

Roger's last name sounds perfect with my first name

Heather Helmy.. nice ring to it
