how long can you spend talking about something with no progress?

what day of the lockout is it?

Ice what?

What Hockey?

I just feel bad for the poor bastards where I work who have all been laid off due to the NHL strike. After all, you can only produce so much TV about "no hockey" before it gets stale.

Agreed!

And yes, deep down I miss hockey; miss watching the highlights every morning; miss arguing about what the Leafs need to win the cup; miss kicking the Sens ass *sigh*

...but I don't really think about it too much anymore.

Hockey? What hockey?

2005 Major League Baseball season is just a couple dozen days away!!!! And I cant wait!

All that hockey nonsense only fuelled my love for baseball, I dont think hockey will ever be able to become my favourite sport. All I need now is to buy a baseball glove

Posted by colonelcrisp on Mar-06-2005 13:46:

fuck the NHL, ive been watching local hockey this year, OHL, junior B, junior A. the hockey is way better cause its just hockey, its not add whoring, drunk fests, all that commercial bullshit that crams the nhl games, that and it doesnt cost 50 bucks to go to a game, most games cost me like 6 bucks to see. i doubt if ill get back into the nhl right away if they start up next fall

Im posting here bc the title of the freaking thread was "DO YOU miss icehockey??"

ANd the answer was "NO I DO NOT"

I was stating whether or not i miss it... bc ITM was asking us canadians whut we thought about missing a whole year of hockey. i happen to NOT miss it since i dont watch it... i dont believe he asked ONLY the hockey fans whether they missed it, he asked canadians.

and i read the whole bloody thread, so afterards i just felt like i wanted to give my position on the matter.

so just freakin' relax... jesus christ!

I'm interested in knowing what *Good* NHL players are playing in Europe

Posted by Euphorica on Mar-06-2005 19:10:

I dont really miss it. However I hope it comes back.
Its been a regular part of life for many for a while now.

no its not a kids game..why are sports considered kids games? tahts the stupidest thing ive ever heard. dont be jealous cause your some nerdy dork who couldnt hit a ball or skate to save his life.

I do beleive the players are being unrealistic...they compare themselves to baseball and basketball players in terms of salary.

well sadly the market is just NOT there in the US like it is for those 2 sports so you cannot make as much as those guys do . there just isnt the money for it and it has led us to this point. Its also the owners fault for letting it get this far. talk about a poorly run business.

As for junior games being better then the nhl. no way sorry.
Ive watched many a game and they arent better. Well they are if some homo team is playing the trap for the night but other then that. they arent better.

I really feel sorry for those whose work revolved around the sport(such as working at the acc etc), not the owners or players. Its not like they are going to suffer if they never played again in there life. more then half could retire on howmuch they made so far.

Posted by nadezhda on Mar-06-2005 19:15:

no. not at all.

i could care less. i saw some ex hockey player being interviewed about how they don't make enough money cos their careers are short, so they need to make a lot fast. sorry mate, i don't think so. you can't survive off 9 million a year? you can't make that last? fuck that noise.

i really loathe hockey. this whole drama has made me hate it even more.

Joe Thorton for one......

what can't you appreciate a game in a more pure format, where the players aren't showboating around the ice, driving to the arena in their ferraris?? i for one love to watch good hockey, not some over hyped comercial crap that they pump over the air as hockey. even the european leagues are way more entertaining than the nhl these days. the league has just let itself get way too sloppy. when i look at games from back in the glory days and compare it to the quality of even last years season, it almost makes me puke.

in all honestly, ill always love my habs but i hope the players and the owners learn a lesson from this whole fiasco, the owners need to realize that they have created their own problems by shelling out hte big bucks for the players and the players need to realize that if they truly love playing hockey, they shouldnt need be be paid 9 million a year to do so, honestly yes their careers are short in general, but whats wrong with an honest days work when your hockey is done? the rest of us non nhl hockey players can still manage to subject ourselves to a normal job....

Posted by Spam on Mar-06-2005 19:34:

Junior and Euro hockey are more entertaining because they're actually playing WORSE hockey.

The more mistakes that are made, the more entertaining it is for us to watch because the game flows. NHL teams are so good that mistakes are rarely made, leading to retarded 1 and 2 goal games and 45 minutes of watching the players 'battle' for the puck along the boards.

Luckily Tampa Bay came along and showed that you can win with a flowing game. The Calgary/Tampa Bay final was the greatest NHL hockey I've watched.

Tampa stole the cup, cause there was a frickin goal in game 6

Posted by colonelcrisp on Mar-06-2005 19:55:

hockey should be restricted to places where you can have NATURAL ICE.... fuckin tampa....

Fair enough, but it wasn't 100% conclusive, and deciding the Stanley Cup over a 'maybe' goal would have been weak.

Posted by DJ_Elyot on Mar-07-2005 03:53:

I honestly have enjoyed not having a season. I don't have to listen to idiots talking about the games, whining about their teams, and discussing a sport that I could care less about.

Posted by Ziggy on Mar-07-2005 05:06:

Not really..

Agree with you on this one. I don't miss seeing hockey on TV but rather going out to a pub with friends to watch the game.
