Guvernment is and always will be a great place to party. But there is room enough for several venues in this city. This club will be different from Guv in many ways.

Im personally glad there is more competition for decent music in this city instead of the same old hip hop fiasco that has dominated for the last 3 or 4 years.

A) Dude that's what the said about Pulse and Boa!
B) Trust me I would love another alternative to Guv....
C)What is the Capacity of Republik???
D) Looks like an awesome Club Esthetically!!!
E) Looks like it will wind up a Gino Joint lol(no offence Gino's I love Italian's)

Give it a chance before you bash. Its one thing to constructively critisize a place after you have visited but to bash a place before it's even had it's first night is a bit ridiculous.

yeh, its worth going just to pee....lol

the club looks very nice...is there a website...

what will cover be opening nite? any word on that, and who will be djing...big name or resident...or secret surprise???

How is that Bashing? I said it looks like a nice place and I'd love an alternative to Guv!!
Plus why is it ok for everyone to Ooooooo and Awwwwwwww about the place before it opens from a few pics but if someone makes a slight posibly negative comment it's Bashing????

Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! conf:

Let's just keep in mind that Clubs come and Clubs go. That the nature in the "Big Smoke":

True but certain clubs around town that are different and unique have last for years. Some even over a decade.

Time will tell!

I smell another Lucid with over priced drinks, snobby crowds, and bullshit politics. I guess they have to go somewhere though....
Keep in mind that's my opinon and the place looks dope.

You make it sound as though BOA has failed. It's quite the opposite, probably hosted one of the biggest NYE's parties on the globe this year. Further more, BOA and Pulse are apples and Oranges.

I think there's a key difference.

Lucid is a bunch of business people that opened up (and like to think they can run) a club.

Republik is owned by people from the industry itself that know how things work and what the customer wants.

Exactly!

We have a guy who owns a sound and light company and another who is a DJ who are the owners. What a combination! I liken it to a master chef opening up a restaurant.

Nothing was mentioned about failed, only major events/DJ's but I respect the fact the the Biggest is not always the best!!!

Frankie Knuckles should be AWESOME!!!

Good Point.
I guess I'm just hoping this will be a success as I like variety for my nights out.

Posted by Jayx1 on Mar-09-2005 21:43:

The more successful clubs we have in Toronto with good music means the more people who will go out to these events which means the more variety we will have.

As i've said to everyone. I hope Republik doesn't replace any other clubs out there, I hope it adds to them.

Posted by VERTiG0 on Mar-09-2005 21:49:

Shit, I'll be in London that night...

Ah well.

And Boa owns all the other clubs in this city. So apparently, sometimes "the" are right.
