mate, thats a bit off...racist? lol.

i think everyones knowledge about football in this forum is overrated... before you belittle rooney keep in mind he was bought by ferguson... a man who rarely makes mistakes while signing players (except last year where he fuct up royally with chumba wumba and bellion ... fair enough, hes only 20 and the media hype hes getting is more than a player of his age should be getting but hes english so its normal ... with that in mind lets look at spain where a player like raul who hasnt scored a goal since the days of the dinosaurs is getting to play ahead of owen whose banging in goals coming of the bench .. real madrid is my team in spain but i think its far worse to have a player play based on his past reputation rather than be over hyped ... rooneys still a big game player and i think its unfair saying he cant score against ac milan cuz i dont know of many players who can since milan dont let go of the ball for anything and score mostly because of mistakes made by the opposition. tell me how many wins or especially defeats have they had where the score was not 1-0 or 0-1???

nah hes not ... ive read his posts from the toronto forums and hes a chilled out guy ... i think the problem is hes from eastern europe and you know how much the rest of europe loves the british ... i think in the euro championships teams want to knock out the brits first and concentrate on winning the tournament after that

Posted by d-miurge on Mar-13-2005 13:11:

I hate the man but I like the player, he must play with glue on his mouth.
There is a lot of more talented guys in UK : Drogba, Henry, etc.

Drogba, you have got to be joking. Henry maybe, but i can think of dozens of players better than drogba.

you forgot diego forlan on that crappy players brought by sir alex ferguson list

Posted by tall paul 2 on Mar-13-2005 17:52:

I really rate Rooney!! Hes a player who not only scores goals, but runs his socks off for the teamhas outstanding vision and can run so well with the ball. Saw that this weekend against Southampton and you do in most games. OK so he was quiet against Milan, but then wasnt Van Nistelrooy as well, whose got something like 36/39 goals in the Champions League. OK, so his main job is to score goals, but then he does more than that at Utd and England where the main strikers are obviously Van N and Owen.

And dont forget his hattrick on his debut in the Champions League..

i still believe he's a spoilt brat. he must STFU while playing too

i think forlan is an example of a good player who failed to settle in the epl .. look at how well hes doing for villareal now else veron could also have been considered a waste .... bellion and djemba were unheard of before we bought them and they proved why ... i think liam millers also going to be put on the list soon

just my point drogba and henry are not 19 thou.

from a football perspective he's a great striker but has a raw edge at utd they will develop him into a team player and hes already bloosiming into a great striker.

like him or not? you can deny his talent.

Posted by chesco on Mar-13-2005 22:43:

I think he's a great player, a cocky wee scally, but a great player.

However I think the english press went WAY over board with there praise for him. Put far too much pressure on the boy, hence the reason he is under-performing on the bigger stages now. best player since pele, give me a break.

He doesn't have a lot of flair about him, he's a grafter and a very effective player, but not the most skilled, thats why he'll never be a zidane or a roberto baggio

Posted by fastmp3 on Mar-14-2005 04:27:

who said he's the best player since pele ? hahahahaha the english press should remove that dildo up in its ass

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Mar-14-2005 05:22:

you know...he is only 19 and still a very feared opponent. I lost a lot of respect for him when he left Everton for the fucking red queers. But as long as he wears the England uniform, I can't hate him.

I just don't understand the animosity to him, especially from non Brits. It is possible for English players to be good you know. He's younger, faster and way more talented than all of us here and any one of you buggers would take him on your team probably.

Posted by fastmp3 on Mar-14-2005 05:30:

we just don't like the overhyping that's all

I wont get upset, u dont know me.... I'm 27, and have played organized (albeit not pro of course) football since i was 6, and have coached
the last 6 yrs as well - only kids aged 12.... No I'm NOT an expert,
but i do know football very well....

People have never mentioned rooney as being great, but they mention that he has lots of potential, and at manchest united he has every chance of fullfilling that.

MANY (not necessarily in these forums) have said he is/will be great.
He will NEVER fulfill those expectations -
except in the EPL (no defences)

quote:
someone once worked out that rooney ran 12 miles atleast in a particular game, (it was something like that).

EVERY midfielder does that EVERY game

quote:
I never said beckham was the best player in the world, he had talent, and was one of the best crossers in the world, but he let the adverstising get to his head.

Yes, but the majority of the English media acted as if he was.
PERFECT example: Americans know NOTHING of football(soccer), everyone
knows this. Yet, American media and just in general THOUGHT he was
the world's best player!!! I heard it on TV myself more than once...

I dont think you know much about football at all.

Thta ur opinion, i respect that. But u have to admit u MAY BE a
bit biased since ur English, whereas I'm an objective outsider.

PS. Someone mentioned teams "fear" Rooney....
Milan DEFINITELY doesnt fear ANYONE, let alone Rooney.
Again, did he even get ONE shot on goal? Where was he? Nuff said

Also, DEF not a racist

I wouldnt. He has no class/respect.... Doesnt deserve Milan's colors

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Mar-14-2005 06:42:

Actually, everyone fears Rooney, even Milan or else they wouldn't have defended him the way they did. I dare any team to treat Rooney as an above average striker and see what he does to them.

Sure, the British Press might have praised Rooney as the next Pele, much like they hailed Owen as the saviour of English football. But does anybody actually believe what the tabloids say? I sure don't but I do know that Rooney is among the best young stars.

Posted by Bortsa on Mar-14-2005 07:05:

it appears to me everyone that bags Cristiano Ronaldo and Rooney are just jealous, because in Ronaldo and Rooney, United have 2 of the most exciting talents in world football. While i believe Rooney is overrated, he is still 19, so he has potential to be the best. Imagine if these two were to go onto the transfer list, the mad scramble to sign them?!?! While there are many great young talents out there, such as Kaka, Robinho, these two are and will be the best players in the world for the next 10 years, mark my words!

Ps, being a west ham fan, i am deprived of any talent or exciting football so i respect any team that plays well and has great young talent

This is ALL i'm trying to say man....Rooney's just another in line
of overhyped players by the English - THATS MY ONLY POINT.
So that means we AGREE

And they're NOT tabloids bro....
It's the major papers and newscasts

This is laughable
The TWO best?!?! Ur proving my point COMPLETELY man.
Rooney is VERY good, NOT great.
I'll Kaka over him ANYday

Posted by fastmp3 on Mar-14-2005 07:29:

just compare ronaldo at barca when he was 19 and now rooney ... BIIIIIIIIIIIIG difference

Posted by Bortsa on Mar-14-2005 07:48:

yeah is didnt put that in the right context, rooney and ronaldo will be some of the best players for the next 10 years, should be no disputing that, and yes they will be one of a few, such as kaka and Robinho.

And yes, Ronaldo (brazil) when he was at barca was amazing, and to be honest i have not seen a better goal than his where he ran half the field and dribbled past about 5 defenders before slotting home, and the look on Sir Bobby Robsons face said it all.
