i have Vermont upsetting 'cuse (you never know, Vermont is my sleeper )

my final 4 are

Oklahoma St. (kinda iffy on this one, Illinois is pretty damn good but i had to try something different)
Wake Forest
North Carolina
Duke

I also like G Tech taking out Louisville and Washington on their way to Elite 8, but i think Wake will talk them out

YEY! Cuse won the Big East (No surprise, but, YEY!)

And Damn GT was "this close" to taking out Duke for the ACC....how can you not make any FG's for the last 11 minutes and still WIN!!! fockers

the madness has begun.
I've been watching for an hour and already I've seen 4 halves of basketball. Niagara is putting up a good fight, fell down by 13 but are now on a little mini-run to get themselves back in the game. There's so much basketball on, this will prove to be a very good day.

Wow - i've got the same Final Four! So we're on the same page there. But where i beg to differ is G.Tech taking out Louisville and Washington. Infact, i've got Louisville beating G.Tech, as well as the heavily favoured Washington. Two other teams i see raising eyebrows would be Old Dominion, and UCLA (winning their first round games, no further though).

Had the wis.Milwaukee upset , but my HUGE sleeper is out:UTEP.
Had them goin all the way to the Elite 8 and losing to Syracuse.
Oh well, night games are lookin godd - all close @ the half.

Still have my 4:
Wake (down 3 @ half )
UNC
Illinois
Syracuse

wake survived. Altho I was looking for them to go down. My sister's boyfriend's pick in the family pool.

Posted by DigDeep on Mar-18-2005 17:48:

Nice - a few of my upsets prevailed...... UAB was impressive, but my UCLA prediction fell a little short. Second place in my pool of winner takes all. I could definately use an extra $800

For jokes, I decided every match in my pool w/ a coin toss this year. Wake won the contest, w/ Kentucky, LSU and Bucknell as my four (LOL!).

Sorry man, but I'm gonna hafta back yer sis' b/f on this one

Watching the UCONN game right now. 4 mins in, and I know I made the right choice for my pick. UCONN's gonna bounce anyone and everyone off the rebounds. I love tough teams, and this one's as tough as they come.

The only stat in basketball more important than rebounds is points.

Posted by DigDeep on Mar-18-2005 20:44:

Nobody is stoppin the Tar Heels.... too explosive offensively.

Posted by Sly_Guy on Mar-18-2005 21:07:

you're wrong there jeff. I've picked tar heels teams too many times to ever believe they ban play consistantly enough to win the tourney. Besides, UCONN is a quick, tough defensive team, they're much thicker up front than UNC, and 4's & 5's will beat guards any day of the week. Whoever comes out of the syracuse bracket will take the tourney IMO.

And what about 'nova? Laying the smack down in their first round...

I do agree UCONN is a good team, and big upfront.... but where UNC has them beat is in the back court. Two different style of teams no doubt. Im not too sure i'd be too confident with UCONN after letting a 15 seed come that close to ending it for them. If they can only beat Central Florida by 6, i question what they would do against a contender like UNC who put up 58 in the first half today.

Posted by Sly_Guy on Mar-18-2005 23:51:

first round matchups mean nothing. Highers seeds always put it in cruise control after they run up a large lead. UNC today just kept their starters in longer than UCONN.

UNC also has the tougher road to the 8's with Florida/Villinova bearing down on them, and both those teams are very well balanced, and I think, have a chance to knock off Carolina if they come out flat in any way. Since Carolina is notorious for being inconsistant, that's why I picked UCONN.

Upset pick of the evening:

Old Dominion over Michigan St. in a squeeker.

This will almost be as good as my UAB over LSU pick

Posted by DigDeep on Mar-19-2005 02:13:

WOW - what a game on CBS right now.

Syracuse down by two to Vermont in OT.

Totally didn't see that one coming, but they were completely outplayed, and vermont deserved to win.

Fuck, I should be at system right now, but nooooo. I'm addicted to basketball instead.

ha ha. Kansas is out.

I sometimes grow tired of being always right. But not during basketball season. Goodbye 'Zaga. Thanks for coming out.

Ok, so I don't have a quote for the Boston College upset, but I did write to my sister about them going out within the first 2 rounds of the tournament. So again, I'm right.

But that was easily the best, most intense game of the tournament so far. Up to BC's first loss of the season, I was gonna pick them to win it all this year. Then they went in the tank and I said they weren't worthy of a higher seed. Someone should hire me for that selection commitee, there'd never be any upsets.

Posted by DigDeep on Mar-20-2005 04:02:

So much for my nap.

ATTENTION ANYONE WHO READS THIS.......

TURN ON CBS NOW.

Posted by TheVrk on Mar-20-2005 05:42:

REAL happy Kansas went out yesterday....

Lovin Utah and the way they play - and their best player,
Bogut, is CROAT . Like their chances next round.

WHAT A GAME BETWEEN WAKE and W.VA
2 OT'S?!?!?!?!?! What its ALL about, even tho i HATE W.VA.

Carolina 2morrow guys

Posted by Sly_Guy on Mar-20-2005 15:39:

the daemon deacons are out!
2 overtimes, but my sister's boyfriend is the first to throw his money down on my family's dining room table, and will now but the subject of much ridicule from everyone else. And this year leading up to the tournament, he was bragging about how he couldn't lose because of all the research he did. Ahhh, how he's gonna pay with his pride....

I love march.
