^ the 1 Gig didn't come in that colour (yet) - so I got the silver/white one... I don't really care since it's gonna be in my pocket anyways.

Plugging it in, it shows up as a USB drive so you can use it to store files - BUT - you can't just drag MP3s over. You have to use their software to find MP3s on your drive and then it copies them over (does not convert to ATRAC format) - also supports .M3Us so you can have playlists.

The fast forward isn't as good as it could be - but - I'm sure it wasn't designed to FF through long sets.

hey I've just noticed it's USB 1.1??!! :'(

I know it's not very important as you rarely put 1Gb mp3 at once , but that's a bit slow when you're using it as an external drive...

however I think I'm going to buy it

Ya I got fooled you nutters.

Anyways, I gotta test it out some more, but it seems to be whining about my livesets that are over 200MB in size, don't know if it's cuz some of them were encoded strange or not - will test more when I'm at home.

Not in terms of battery life/portability/size/weight - sound quality I can't comment on since I haven't heard one long enough.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i don't care if it's smaller or lighter...it has a little clip that hooks onto my pantaloons...and the battery is rechargable and it lasts a long time

IT'S BETTER!

Posted by Swamper on Apr-22-2005 20:58:

18 hours versus 40 hours(192kbps mp3 playback).

I'll go for 40! Plus, all I need is another AAA battery to get goin again, don't need to go find a computer to recharge!

SO there!

What's that thing weigh, anyways? 3-4 oz?

ouch

after getting pwned by nachos, swamper had to take it out on poor pr0

but yeah...the barely existent battery life is why I'm not even considering an ipod:

26 grams (1 oz) + weight of AAA battery

AAA battery weighs about 0.7oz(7.6 grams) ... so... ~34 grams is what it weighs

((teh advanced math omg!@*))

Posted by UWM on Apr-22-2005 21:02:

26 grams? Holy cow. That's even more incentive to pick one up. I carry heavier coke rocks in my pocket.

okay not really.
