I read in Mixmag that on New Year's, the going rate for DJ's is 3x's the normal rate. 3 x 35000 = 105000 Holy Shit!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs down

200k and 3x, what has the world come to?! I think that is ridiculous. When a DJ is making more than a band, then something is wrong. Whoever is paying Jokenfold 200k was dropped on their head when they were a baby. I was involved with a bid for U2 to come to our University. We did not have a chance but they were asking 100k. Tell me this, would you rather have Jokenfold spin for a couple of hours or get U2 in concert for half the cost? Coming from a DJ's perspective, there are plenty of DJ's out there who have just the same skills. Only problem is they don't have the connections. It is all about who you know in this industry. Being Paul Oakenfold, he pretty much controls the market. He can play anywhere he wants for whatever price he chooses. How is someone like, say Marco V or Armin van Buuren going to compete with that, even though we all prefer to see Armin van Buuren.

What's wrong? Welcome to the future.

It's not like any DJ's makes that much money. Only DJ's that are artists/producers make close to that amount.PVD's got I don't know how many compilation cds and records out there. I don't really understand why that much but shit, he is one of the luckiest men on Earth to make tonnes of money doing what he loves. I am happy for him.

As fo $5500 for Oakie, well he must have been close by and wasn't booked that night and played for that little amount. According to Mixmag(B.S. maybe) he make 14000 pounds per 1 1/2 hour set. I also heard(B.S. maybe) that he has been seen spinning at the Burning Man festival for free. Not on a stage or anything, just outside his vehical on a table.

Like I said, Oakie pretty much controls the market. Also I got another tidbit for you. I paid $30 to see Sasha spin a 6hr set. The next night, I learned he randomly showed up at a small local bar and spun a 3hr set for free. Did I miss out or what. These big name DJ's have all the fun!

well at Club QBH in Australia the tickets to go see him were $40 Aus which is about $20 US.... capacity of 3000 ppl so thats $120,000.00 in admissions... plus all the drinks sold... im sure they would cover everything easily... and considering the amount of money other people get for doing jack shit... Bill Clinton gets $250,000.00 for an hour speech or some shit... i mean, i'd rather hire PvD than Bill...

I guess I still got a long way to go from the $50 an hour i make...

And Oakenfold is a Queer, who hires him anyways???
