i'm sure you have, i just mean in australia, melbourne seems the only place that wears them

Posted by Nyquist_Theorem on Mar-29-2005 06:04:

worn the world over from what ive seen. as far as opinion, seriously who cares what kind of pants the guy or girl next to you in a club is wearing?

if you're at a club standing around pondering the clothing of those around you, you need to relocate to a club that has music (and people) more to your liking.

otherwise, to each their own... and i reckon that, at least for the younger set, they're pretty cool.

I don't have a problem with phatties, nor do i care what people wear, however i have noticed they have definately isolated the alot of the general public from the trance scene in melbourne because the general opinion is that you have to be wearing them to get in, or they feel un comfortable around so many kids i them.

When i first moved to melbourne and told ppl i listened to trance the first thing they would say (laughing) was "Do you wear those big clown pants?"

As i said, i dont have an issue with them, just an observation.

From what i have seen there a world over thing... I have seen photos of american ravers and they love it... even though there in the middle of the desert from what ive seen... In europe tho it seems like there more into tight jeans and whistles... but thats just from what ive seen.

Melbourne seems like the place to go for phatties, I mean every second raver has them and its almost like you dont fit in if you dont have them.

Speaking of which anyone see the herald sun today with the photos out the front of bass station?

I was told by a friend that recently visited the UK that when she asked in a rave clothing store about them the sales assistant pretty much said they were big last decade, not so much this one....

i agree on the reflectors and i used to be totally anti-phatties but once i put on a pair of normal denim ones i decided that they are the most comfy pants i've worn (and i wear a lot of pants)

I used to wear massive pants back in my raving days. 5,6 years ago, I was all about big pants. The bigger, the better. It wasn't all about the reflectors, or cartoon characters stitched on the side for me, but size was definately the way to go. I remember my biggest pair flared out to 36" on the bottom, that was freacking bigger than my waist! I could stick 2 soccer balls up each leg while wearing them, and a full sega genesis system with 4 games & boxes or 6 rented videos in the back pockets. They were huge. But since raving is no longer cool, I've taken it down to a modest 22". there's nothing wrong with them, I just got tired of flapping in the breeze when I was walking down the street.

hahahahaha

I just wear good ole trackies when I go out.

Posted by kelsta on Mar-30-2005 01:14:

I wear plain denim ones when I want to be comfy or dance.. but they are more like wider-leg jeans than 'phats'. They keep you a bit cooler too.
Not a fan of the straps/huge smiley faces/fluoro but its personal preference I guess

I take it these be US phatties?... There very cloth looking as apposed to our "big jean" styles... then again i think Melbourne town is a bit full on considering theres over 3 shops/brands of phatties one can buy... Dunno how many other places offer that.

Posted by acatnamedjeff on Mar-31-2005 23:45:

quite clearly they are shit, but if someone wants to wear them good on em!

Posted by eROs.au on Mar-31-2005 23:46:

Id prefer a no shirt muzza over a wannabe rockstar with a sweatband on his head and just below his elbow.
