The file sharing goes along with the fact that he mentions DC++. As you clearly know, DC++ is a peer to peer program that facilitates chat and file sharing between users. Because he mentioned DC++, it thus references file sharing. Had he not mentioned the program, your argument might have been legitimate.

code:
here is some information you need to know about asking for mp3's and where to get them.

nothing has been asked, just stated

code:
Tranceaddict does not support filesharing!

support from tranceaddict has not been requested

code:
so please do not make any threads asking where to get them or how to get them

nothing has been asked, just stated

i believe the original posting has not broken the rule

support was provided by Tranceaddict as it was the venue for this information to be made known, and therefore TA was used, and is now technically supporting it.

hum..no argument against that =P

Posted by jon on Apr-03-2005 06:52:

bleh, as you may or may not be aware, the sharing of copyrighted material is illegal.

Since TA is a legit site, and whos downloads on the main page are there with the permision of the artist etc, we can not be seen to give "infomation" on how to find illegal downloads.

Therefore posts advertising places were copyrighted material can be download are not in the intrested of TA, therefore when a main forum mod wakes up I can see this thread being closed.

Nou finished my point best, I think.

I feel the MSN analogy is fair, but inadequate. While MSN does facilitate file sharing, you can argue it's main purpose is for online conversarion. Additionally, threads with a request such as: "Can someone send me this song over MSN", are usually closed.

Conversly, I think you can argue that Direct Connect and its third party clients are cenetred on sharing files. Several of the hub softwares do not require a chat area to be provided for each member. Additionally, threads with: "read this funny conversation from dc++" are usually not closed. (if anyone remembers the 'Turkish Bazaar' thread, I think it is a prime example, though the *.gif holding the conversation is not avaliable anymore).

With this thread doesnt specify file sharing, it also doesnt specify chatting or a community. Perhaps you could argue the "chill zone" phrase, but that would be quite hard pressed. However, past precendent suggests that this thread will be closed, and warning the original poster seems fair. In the end, I'm not a mod, so whether I'd close this thread or not doesn't matter. Id also like to say Im a loser for arguing this point this far.

Man.. its just an unwritten rule, we do not speak about hubs here, might be hypocrite but the h word is a no-go on ta.com, get used to it.

Even though he's technically not breaking the rules its still spam imo.

And besides, i could list you about a dozen other good (childpron free ) hubs, but i won't this is just a cheap way of getting users.

Why is this still not locked?

Posted by robin on Apr-03-2005 10:11:

And by the way, such an original hubname.
