No no I know that...I mean Stratford upon Avon...where is it in the UK? How far from London? Or what other major city is near by?

Posted by slingshot on Apr-04-2005 19:56:

"Welcome to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, steeped in culture and history. Set in the beautiful rural Warwickshire countryside, on the banks of the river Avon, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in the UK. With easy road, rail and airport access, it is the perfect place for a vacation or short break."

looks to be about 200 kms north west of london......apparently they have an airport tho.

Posted by slingshot on Apr-04-2005 19:57:

birmingham is the closest major city....

Posted by starsearcher on Apr-04-2005 19:58:

well the airport is where GlobalGathering will take place...on the airport grounds as far as I understand....so about 200k from London...hhmm not so bad. I'm sure they'll have some transportation arranged from London anyway.

Posted by slingshot on Apr-04-2005 20:03:

yea, they'll definately have something set up from london......i'm honestly down for organizing a trip tho.....that party is rediculous.....i don't think anything can match that!

Posted by slingshot on Apr-04-2005 20:06:

yea, they'll have something set up for sure.........i would honestly be down for organzing some sort of trip there......that is going to be the party of the summer for sure......it would be insane!

interesting...

on saturday when I was at Venue, went up to talk to him, just before I left, he put on a Tiesto track (don't remember the name of the song).

Posted by starsearcher on Apr-04-2005 20:18:

probabbly traffic....he favours that one according to his top 10 or something or some cd he was going to mix

Posted by MaxTO on Apr-04-2005 20:22:

^^^ definately wasn't traffic...that much I do remember (because that's the first thought that came to my mind when I saw him pull out a Tiesto vinyl)

there is no way you could see everybody wanted to see

It is being held as a 2 day event for the first time this year. Traditionally, it has always been a 1 day event. And yes, it's extremely difficult to see everyone in such a short period of time. Most sets are only about 1.5 - 2 hrs at the longest. But the thing is with many of these big festival type of events, it's not really just about the DJ. I mean when I think back of my time there, the DJ only made about 1/3 of the experience, it's everything else around you that makes the party, ie. the people, the stages, the decor, there's just so much more to it than catching the acts. Hell they even built an entire amusement park on the airfield.. !

What a weekend for those who are going... envy is just not strong enough a word for what Im feeling.

That lineup is about 90% of the same lineup they had last year. Traditionally they book pretty much everyone at this event. But GKGG is not only the only festival to do so of course, other examples are of course: WMC (Ultra Festival), Dance Valley, Nature One, Creamfields, Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, Mysteryland, etc. just to name a few which all take place over the summer as well with the exception of WMC.

How far away from London is it?

It's about a 2-3 hr train ride north of London. Yes Birmingham is the nearest city, but tons of ppl just hop on the train from London which is what we did when I went. The shuttle bus from the train station to the actual airfield was brutal though. But what was even more brutal was coming home ..

btw. if you're gonna buy tix for this event online.. MAKE SURE YOU PICK THEM UP AT A TICKET OUTLET BEFORE YOU GO !!!

If it's trance and it's on Z, you KNOW its not new.

This lineup is HUUUUGE. Is it going to be the same lineup here?
I'm dying to see Oakenfold.
