Maybe not this year, but definetly next year I am going to this.

Just a small question to Dutch TA's: Pardon my lack of knowledge on your Marijuana laws, but how would it work if I went to Dancevalley. If say I wanted to bring my own batch, would they grab it from me when I was searched at the door? Or would there be no point because they would have it on sale at the door? Just wondering because under the circumstances, I'd probably blow my brains on mary jane listening to the DJ's

well the whole principle of weed in the netherlands is a bit weird. Just see the opening scene of pulp fiction.

1: They dont sell it at the door or inside!!!
2: I dont know the policy of bringin weed in. Of course everybody is puffing away once inside the festival terrain. T

he problem is that every town/city has its own policy: For example if you are in amsterdam at a big party, bringing some xtc and weed for PERSONAL use is legal. However not all bouncers know that and some organisations have there own rules. Dance Valley is near amsterdam but not in the city itself and it dont has the amsterdam policy/laws. It is in a town called Velsen.

I dont use drugs but the best way to get it in is to putt in your shoes or underwear or other original places

Also a small reminder: Dutch weed is pretty strong compared to other weeds in the world. So use it wisely, dont do too much and risk to miss the whole day because you are sleeping/sick/grumpy.

Good to know mate, thanks. And btw on the last sentence, it can be prevented by just not letting up and being constantly high

Be Cool!

so is anyone here camping??

right now, my plan is to just go with a weekend ticket and see what happens, but from the website, it looks like they discourage just wandering around if you don't actually have a tent (i wonder why?? )

so my question is, who out there is planning on camping, and more importantly ( ), is there anyone who might have a little extra space for a crazy american or two??

let me know if you do - i promise we dont bite

Well, i had myself all setup for two of us to go...doubting to go now..

Not much dancing going all at ALL there...seems people just chill-ax and drink some beer..

Im into the laser lights, mental nights of non stop dancing craze, going absolutely fuckin' mad and having a blast.. whereas like i said, most people there look like utter hippies and chillout peoples

Well it al depends which area and the place you stand.

Mainstage higher on the hill everybody is indeed picknicking and relaxing. Lower on the hill everybody goes really wild and everybody is dancing. The last 2-3 hours of mainstage is completely full with about 40 000 people juping, screaming dancing.

Also rememeber that there are about 15 other areas. I can assure you that those other areas are rocking from start till end. Last year with Adam Beyer was really crazy: about 12 oclock in the afternoon, a completely full techno tent and crazy badass techno tunes.

Then ofcourse you have a great prog area, trance with armada, deep dish, Carl Cox own Global Area , very big open air uk-hardhouse area, the list goes on and on and on.

I'm moving to Madrid in mid-July and want desperately to go to this party. Still not sure how I'm going to handle my accomodations (although I don't plan on sleeping much, naturally) because I don't know anyone else who's going, much less somebody with a tent. Is it feasible to get a hostel in Amsterdam and catch a train or something back into town from the festival on Friday and Sunday mornings?

My original plan was to start looking for a job as soon as I got to Spain. But with a lineup like this, there's no way I can miss it, so if I get a job right away at a bar or something I'm going to have to fabricate an excellent excuse to get out of town for that weekend. I'm definitely going though. Ultra in Miami this year was AMAZING and I've got to do something that fun again. A dance festival of this magnitude in the Netherlands seems like just the thing to beat it.

yeah dude, ultra this year was co-RAY-zee!!! did you get a chance to see carl cox? wow! my set of WMC

anyway, from my understanding, you will have to buy 2 tickets if you plan on coming and leaving from the festival, and plus, it seems like a big trouble to have to come and go like that anyway (especially after nights/days of partying!! )

that being said, i'm in your same situation, i'm coming from america for this, and also won't have any camping equipment. maybe we could combine our resources and figure something out? haha, keep in touch

Posted by basvh on May-19-2005 08:39:

if you buy a weekend ticket you will HAVE to stay at the camping friday and saturday. (you can leave saturday night though) but you cant go partying friday, leave and grap a hotel and then come back saturday.

there is only a weekend ticket or a saturday ticket. no friday tickets.

just check the regulations at http://www.dancevalley.com

No... its REALLY strong. we were at dv last year, and 4 of our guy mates bought 1 joint in the 'dam that was meant to be "medium, and make you laugh" to share and they were all seriously wasted!! It took them 2 hours walking round the city to get back to our hostel... heheheh... I laughed....

I love that you can request the style/strength of your order!
