the key on good saws is the lfo.
fast lfos with low amount on the pitch of one osc and the other oscillator given a square with fast modulated pw.

synth1 can be really good, my updated synth1 pack will also come someday.

i dont particularly like vanguard at all but i thought id have a bash at making a lead synth with it and heres wot i came up with in about 10 mins.

TBH, I don't like it either...too harsh. But it's fun getting useable stuff out of it, hehe.
