i still think 76 was a good album, and the original burned with deisre is still awesome,

but ur right, the recent stuff is losing it, i dont think he should stop producing all togteher...

Okay, quick question. Does Liquid Todd suck Oakie off everyday? How the fuck did this guy play Ultra, much less the Ampitheatre this year? I saw this guy tour with Oakenfold, here in Denver, last summer. I've never heard someone, supposedly a headliner, off their beats so bad. He didn't have a single mix on beat throughout. Anyone else have any feelings about this guy?

I saw him here almost two weeks ago, and he kicked ass. His mixing was spot-on and some of the best transitions that I've heard from anyone lately. His track selection was superb and his interaction with the crowd was great. He ended up coming out into the crowd during Collins' set to talk to a bunch of us who were really into it. One of the best sets I've heard in the last few months.

Speaking of headliners who are way off-beat, Oakey played a set that same night and after hearing that, I'd say he's the definition of a DJ who needs to get a day-job.

most original mixing for me atm.....

I wasn't really that impressed when I saw G&D live last September, since I just find them and all their other sets I've listened to a lil too slow and light for my taste. However, I love their remixes and productions.

Fuck, he already has a day job; it's doing Scarface mountains of blow and railing teenage girls.

Whilst I agree that their mixing isnt technically brilliant, I quite like their tracklists, alot more energetic than I was expecting

Dude,
I saw his ass years ago at the AREA 1 tour. Carl Cox blew oakey's ass away. A jesus pose every three minutes, possible (but not probable) head knoding whilst mixing, and WAYYYYYYYYYY too much frequency concintration. Waste of my money I tells ya!

i think it all depends on the enviroment, ive seen some djs i hate completely destroy in the right enviroment, and if oakey was in his right enviroment, what ever tht is, i can imagine a bangin slamin party like before.

for example, JXL isnt a dj really hes a producer who tours, pretty much just puts in a cd and goes, and fools arounf with his little korg legacy synth, making a phooooshhh sound between songs, but really, hes not doing much. and ive heard he bangs a lot of younger women as well..

HOWEVER, it was one of the best parties ive been to, i was there from 11:30 til 5 Am, and he completely owned us. his tracklist was so pop, and not at all ndergound but he still managed to rock us out last november in lima

1. Lil less conversation
2. dont wake up policeman
3. Sonambulist
4. dirty stick floors
5. world on fire
6. fight for your right to party

granted there were other tunes, but it just goes to show how im the right mood and enviroment any dj can be good.

i bet when you saw oakie, a lot of people there HAD fun. just not you.

sorry for the long semi pointless post.

No man, I totally understand what you're saying. My friends and I were newer to the scene, and it was just starting of in AR. We were like "oh shit, Oakey's only like 3 hours away!!" so we paid and went. I think I was expecting to get something else. bottom line, his crowd interaction left something to be desired, but his track selection owned.
