not what i saw.
bouncer came, standing over, two guys came sat next to me, head nodd from the bouncer, 3 coke lines formed and sniffed on the glass table.
also we got busted for smokin weed, than the bouncer goes, "next time if you need something just come to me"

Then it must have changed or those are just some new bouncers. The last time I was there, which was for Scumfrog I still saw the same bouncers trying to bust people. Now open K use yes but not coke man. I must of saw five different groups of asians just bumping it up out in the open.

RIP MEOW and thanks for the memories... |
I remember that - I brought sparklers in the place and when he dropped Expander - I lit each one and handed them out one by one to the sexy ladies around me - the energy in the place after that was lifted - that night was one of my all time fav times in TO next to when Roger Sanchez dropped Fired Up by F.G.D. at Industry in 1997...up on the stage......everyone dancing in unison.......(smilin'). Sasha at MEOW - I came up with friends from Kingston - who had never heard of Sasha or prog trance really......after that night they were pretty much hooked (I am sure the white loves might have had something to do with it) albeit to enhance an already stellar intimate performance by Sasha at one of his finest moments....... back to back parties that June/July - Nick Warren and Sasha GU 8, 9, 11 and 13 - those were some good times for sure.
When I saw that TUNE banner - I was like shit yo - the UK is in the place -- RESPECT!!!!
Never noticed tha rampant drug use though...... NAIVITE does have its rewards sometimes don't it????
Bye MEOW MEOW....... RIP!

I don't think any party could top that for my bday.. Industry was crazy, and I only caught a bit of it.

Naivite is the only way. Even when one's lost it - force it back. Makes for a 100% good time, every time.

Honestly, I'm very perplexed @ this thread.
Meow was everything I hated about clubbing to be honest.
Sure, there were some decent events thrown there, but as much as people rag on Guv these days, Meow was much worse. ( Guv was actually quite the model club back then)
Perhaps the most violent staff I'd ever seen, coupled with the most plastic crowd of the time. Meow was a second tier or lower clubbing experience, and although you are free to recall the good times you may have had there, this place was a flash-in-the-pan, and isn't even in the top 50 of the past decade in the Toronto scene.

I agree with you near the end I started to hate the place. But there was something about the whole Meow experience that was just different from all the other clubs. Like the whole no parking. Having to park wherever you could the having the shifty guy in the shuttle pick you up and take you to the door. Seeing ginos on there first E. But most of all Mark Oliver on a Friday playing all your all time favorite Guv tunes. Seeing the ginos faces when you were singing along to songs you've been listening to for years, while they were hearing them for the first time. I drove past it again today and was tempted to take the Lakeshore cut off to go take a look at it.

I was there...and remember your sparklers. LOL. The TUNE gang ruled. It was always such a disappointment when they didn't show up for a big show.

Amen.
It's amazing what one notices when you're really looking for it (or not in some cases).
The way I look at it, as long they're not hurting anybody, who am I to interfere?
I miss the TUNE banner, there was just something about it marching through the crowd to work everyone up....

Does anyone know about the Meow club that is in Windsor? I just saw the sign when I was there but did not check the place out. It's the same writing as the Meow that was on lakeshore.
