But I absolutely love playing it actually but can't skate worth shiate.

Seeing it live too is also pretty exciting. It just doesn't translate well for TV in my opinion.

hockey gets the least exposure out of all the 4 major sports on tv here in the states and you say it eats up tv time for the other sports...ignorant...

your yankees lick serious balls...good to see them in the cellar of the AL east.

You're an idiot for calling people names as your argument. 1 minute of hockey highlights is too much!! Hockey gets like a 1.2 television rating for a reason, because it sucks.

We'll see about the Yankees smarty pants.

he he

I am huge sports fan and follow many kinds of sports including soccer and there really is only one that I don't like... it's hockey. But I still know a lot of the players names and followed the game as a youngster.

HOCKEY IS UN-AMERICAN TO ENJOY

Im a hockey fan, although after this major lay off there will be a shit load of catching up going on because of how different all the teams look.

I played league ice hockey for 2 years in HS. Before that, I used to just go ice skating with friends and stuff all the time and just mess around.

I know they have hockey leagues (ice and roller) at the Chelsea Piers, but Im sure they are pretty pricey.

i live around a bunch of football fanatics, everywhere you go these days its football football football. please hockey takes 100000x more skill to play and it gets no props glad to see there are at least a few others out there that appreciate the sport

can't beat 400 level seats for Rangers game for less than $30

back in the day i used to play street hockey all the time once i got back from school.

i always had more fun playing with the kids in my neighboorhood cause i wasn't as good as the kids that played on the ice.
but yeah i'm a light bruins fan but we suck this year so boo.

do you guys play in a leagues in nyc? i'd love to play, i'd have to get new equipment haha i haven't used it since like freshman year in high school.

i was a huge hockey fan until the strike "i (my family) had season tickets for montreal since i was 8 years old!!" ..........now i watch every now and then........heh....

Posted by madhattared on Feb-16-2006 18:09:

yeah the strike totally ruined the NHL, alot more then the baseball strike of like 94?

i feel like alot of my friends that used to watch hockey aren't interested anymore. it did make game tickets alot cheaper tho, i went to a bruins game for like 12 bucks over my winter break.

i think the neutral zone trap had more of a crippling effect on the NHL than the lockout itself

did u know? Eric Lindros was in my freshman year economics class. it was 1994/1995, the year of the strike and he decided to go to school. so one day in my economics class, this huge hulking 6'4" beast comes into our class and sits at the back. it was funny b/c our prof was comparing salaries of nhl players and economic professors for some of his examples

Posted by Frequency Mike on Feb-17-2006 17:47:

wow! nothing here costs 12 bucks.. except mabye a pack of gum...
