Yeah, the UK does seem to be falling behind a little bit
They did try and put caps on our bandwidth as well but we just changed provider. Fucking 15GB for the whole month? They must be having a laugh

This month has been different because I want to get my ratios up on ************* and empornium so my upload has been a lot better this month. I have no limit anymore though, I left that company and switched to another one without limits. I have cable here and DSL at my apartment. |
wow most of you people are freaking out over nothing...
1GBps is really just a gimmick, sure they'll wire your place at 1Gbps, but will it be that useful? maybe in 5-10 years and even at that time...
and you don't need 1Gbps to deliver DVD quality broadcasts.
512kb here

I've got 8mbps adsl at home and 20mbps adsl at work. The funny thing is... now i want more speed...
Those are ridiculous speeds. Canada is lagging way back when it comes to this level of speed being available to consumers. Fastest connections are still corporate T1/T3 lines.
Im on 14.4 Still !!!
That's like more than two ds3's, huh? ds3 = T3 = 28 T1's. Each T1 carries 1.544 M/s, in bandwidth, right?
If that's the case, that is absurd. There is no way in hell that's dedicated. That's probably the capacity of the whole network, shared over many users. Your actual speed is probably significantly lower.
A GigE connection (1000Mbps or 1Gbps) is faster than a traditional OC12 line which can only accomodate about 622Mbps.
Wouldn't mind a few of these? I doubt the UK has this if it combined its entire broadband network together!
