didnt renegade say the CLUBS not the crap clubs?

well the goodish ones here are full of prog house. Which is funny, cuz its just 1 promoter who brings em all, and when anybody brings something harder into town, the event is crazy. So really this guys own passion for music, not the driving market force is why he decides to bring what he wants. ITs a real pain in the ass tho!

Around here all we get is Progressive House. And no, its not even the good stuff. No major Progressive House DJ's ever come by either. I am so sick of it. Bring on the trance, please!

san diego is a very VERY heavily entrenched house town when you get out to the real clubs and undergrounds. LA has more of a mix with hardhouse and progressive house/trance dominating. there are some garage, tribal, dn'b, and trance venues but nothing like hardhouse and prog. it's not bad though. sounds better than arizona. wuttup mikey.

Clubs, eh?

well....first of all, I live in Texas.....secondly, I live in the smallest hick town IN texas!!! for god's sake! WHY THE HELL DID I MOVE HERE FROM TORONTO LAST YEAR!?!?!?!?
/sigh

neway, we have no clubs here
that's right no clubs at all - the closest thing to a club is a lil titty club about 30 miles away and IT SUCKS!! (wasn't even WORTH sneaking in to!)!!

well, they have some nice clubs at Deep Ellum in Dallas...but that's too far...Deep Dish just played on Saturday 24...Sasha & Digweed played last Sat on the 17th....but since I live with my parents right now and they are strict as hell.....*sigh*

SIX MONTHS!
i graduate from high school!
university!
RAVES! RAVES! RAAAAAAAAAAVES!!

well everyone knows the old school sound of detroit is motown, but clubwise it depends. Motor plays straight techno most of the time, alt they occasionally throw parties with Oakey and other big trance names, but nothing special. In Ann Arbor tho, theres like one club that plays random shit, and then your average frat party has just godawful music...late/

Thank god i live near all the beaches. i dunno what i'd do if i couldn't go clubbin. Thats like listenin to a rock band but never seein them in concert.

Exclamation

here in huizen (holland) we have something called the radio538 I dance
So many crappy DJs come here, such as

DJ Jose (I hate all the lexion DJs)
G-Spott
DJ Maximo (wtf??)

some okay/good ones

Johan Gielen
DJ Eric-E
Marco V

well its a mixed line up, usually club/trance but sometimes also funky house or the soft type of techno.

Well, this is weird

Posted by dancegirl on Nov-28-2001 16:26:

Here in Cinti., Ohio, we have a few clubs on main street. But they are only cheesy top 40 clubs and it is a disgrace to the word "club" but there is one place worth spending time in. It is small, but has great house/progressive trance. Finally a place where people go because they want to experience the music and not meat-market!

Well, I think your attitude is a bit exaggerated, I disagree with it.
For me personally, partying/clubbing is always a social experience, if the people are just standing there and aren't interested in dancing with others (as was the case when I went to see PvD this past weekend), then that's not a very nice or fun party...
I remember, there people were doing anything BUT dancing, by the way... and those that were, were doing it by themselves... not fun at all

Posted by dancegirl on Nov-29-2001 18:41:

i don't mean people that go to clubs to enjoy the music just sit in the corner. No, they are dancing around having fun with other people. But too many loser clubs have losers that go there not because they care what type of music is playing but because they just want to get with someone. Rarely at looser top 40 clubs do people go because they respect the music. No, they could care less what's playing that's why the dj's get away with going from ATB to bon jovi which should be illegal!

Well, but you have to remember that a lot of people LIKE and ENJOY top-40 stuff, in fact I would say that MOST people really like to hear famous top-40 stuff like Darude, Fragma, Zombie Nation, Alice Deejay, "Castles in the sky," etc. When I go to these "college-night" clubs I see a lot of people singing along to these top-40 hits and really dancing the night away in ecstasy.

In defense of this I have to admit that when you play too much obscure or underground stuff that the majority of people don't know or care for, that's not a very good idea... When these kids come to a club, your job as a DJ is to make them feel good.

2 floors: big one: trance/techno/prgressive
smaller one: house/hip hop
there is another club near my locatin, never been there though , but the music seems to be really hard

Posted by dancegirl on Nov-30-2001 02:32:

I really do see what you are saying. I think that the dj is only good if he makes the crowd feel good. I guess I just wish that more people could appreciate other music than what you hear everyday on the radio. I'm also picky because I never pursued music as much as I do now and I use to be more prone to going to clubs because I liked to listen to familiar music. Now I found that there's a whole land of new music that I've never experienced so why deny experiencing the unheard, new sounds.

just a little off topic, that's why i really enjoy going to clubs and listening to sets that are 90% progressive trance. it's hard to find such clubs, but it's nice when you do cause there's a nice split between ppl on the dancefloor and ppl on the 'bench'. both are enjoying themselves equally tho cause you can chill to the prog sound as well as move to it. that's my opinion anyway. just thought i'd mention that for the hell of it.

Two clubs:

One Trance, and the another one plays shit.
