Jeff, the UKTA gif does not affect my loading speed at all
loaded up just as quick / slow ( your choice ) as it always does

What does slow me down thou is your mitsutrancEaddict gif's.
LOL yourn and Fray's, when i scroll up and down the page, it pauses for a second or two as it goes over both of yours mitsutrancEaddict gifs.
I get that too with flystylers sig for some reason.

Keep them thou cos they do look cool, and no need to worry about the spinny UKTA thingy in it . . .

Yeah that's the problem with animated gifs you see...they're so bloody huge. Of course you could decrease the number of frames... but then it'd be jerky....unless you kept half the animation and looped it, so then it would start with the edge of the "U" facing us, rotate to a point where the edge of the "A" is facing us, then start again. It will either look really shite or like a cool optical illusion where it's the right way round on both sides..... Anyway that would effectivly half the size of the file.

Now the trouble with mine and Neo's is that they're tall, so the section that's animated will be quite a large file to begin with. Neo's would have to be chopped into three sections, the left hand side, the middle, and the right. Then we could just animate the middle. Though saying that, I'm thinking maybe we could get the middle section of Neo's sig, and the far right of mine down to less than 256 colours which would help a bit. And remember that (as with ur mitzi's) once they're cached they load up pretty my instantly.

I think numero uno problema here is that I havn't got a clue how to work these programs so I'm making it all up as I go along. There's probably a really easy way to keep the filesize down that I don't know about.

Anyway I'll keep at it, gives me something to do on those lonely weekday evenings What's the absolute maximum filesize you think we'd get away with?

EDIT: OK Pictire the scene... the mitsi logo rotates on the screen, half way along it MORPHES into the UKTA logo...all the while with that stained-glass lighting effect too.....

neo i have the same trouble, coz there anamated they fook my comp, when ever i get to a post from jeff, fray or fly, my comp freezes and crindes to a holt until it jurks past

And the animated gif I made doesn't cause this? Odd....

Yes it does, but to a total lesser extent, with jeff n frays mitsui... gifs i get a pause of like 2 seconds, with flystylers it pauses for like 3 seconds but with the animated ukta in jeffs sig pic i get a minimal pause of like � second, i hardly noticed it at first cos the delay is so short, but i think if its combined with the mitsui... gifs that jeff and fray already have their posts will be delayed that little bit more.
U get what i mean ?

The more gifs on a sig/post the longer the delay, some of us have animated avatars too, Me for example lol but i dont notice any delay caused by the avatars cos they are hosted on the TA server.
All our sig pics are hosted elsewhere which also adds to the delay effect.
Remember also that i am on broadband internet so where i get a delay of 2 to 3 seconds, what happens with ppl on 56k ?

Well bi gif is a bit crap, i am just messing round, but it is fairly easy to make it smaller, it may be just by changing the optimization settings. Or less frames, or over less time. But i need to tweak mine. But as you say if there r more animations on the page, all of the gifs take longer to load, but 3 seconds aint very long, i am a 56k so it is a lot more noticable

well i saw no prob just then fly, neo ur avatar makes no difference as its so small, compaired to jeff and frays multi coloured thingys, + theres two of them on each, stu i no 3 seconds aint long, but when ur brousing and ur whole comp freezes for 3 seconds its damn anoying.
urs is ok now tho, just the pair of twats

any chance of putting the see-through or spinny in2 mine please?

If you dont like that i will put it somewhere else, your choice of position

I wouldn't have a clue how to even begin making realistic 3D snow heaps mate If anybody's got any ideas feel free to share them or muck about with it yourselves.
