Other than house and trance I listen to most forms of rock music (punk, alternative, emo, hard rock, etc.), good hiphop/rap (gangstarr, nas, big l, a tribe called quest, etc.), retro (depeche mode, new order, david bowie, the cure, etc.) as well as some pop music and some other stuff like motown, frank sinatra, barry white, etc.

Basicaly, a little of everything.

They do put on an excellant show.

They do write their own music that is catchy and pretty good.

They spread positive political messages.

The thing with Sum41 is that it's unadultered fun. People like to hate on whatever becomes cool to listen to, and because SUM41 became so popular, they all of a sudden get all this hate from people that are "so underground, and non conformist" that they refuse to conform. Fack that. SUM41 4ever. I'm not a HUGE fan but I have seen them live when they decided to touch base with their canadian fan base and do small university shows on frosh weeks. That's admirable in itself. Of the pop-punk bands out there, they definately rank up there with the best.

Aye, Karim! I agree w/ you on both fronts, that Sum41 doesnt get enuff credit and that its too ofen easy and "cool" to hate on whut becomes popular!

As for ur list. lol, i was just listening to OLP last night, their clumsy CD when i was out crusing... CLUMSY is my ALLTIME favourite song from back in the day, non-edm. such a fantastic song.

really brings back memories!

high school was defined by the likes of OLP, I Mother Earth, Narvana, Moist, Greenday, etc. etc.

Oh the memories...

I've always enjoyed their music. Everytime I hear they're going to have a new album I think "great, this is going to be complete shit" but then they blow me away with quality music. While they aren't groundbreaking I think that all artists should be this consistent with quality.

pearl jam, iron maiden, black sabbath, Gladiator soundtrack, buju banton and 680 news....Sum 41 are fucking fantastic, there are one of the few new bands that are willing to go back to metals roots and have fun with classic rock and metal. Not band for a group of kids from Durham...

78% of me is Trance & Progressive Trance

but the rest of me is a mix of ambient, house, breaks, techno, acid jazz, old school, retro, alternative, classic rock, R&B, motown and some true classical masters

Hehe every once and a while I'll play some really old disco or freestyle just so I can shudder and run back crying to my Trance

Posted by ChemEnhanced on May-10-2005 12:17:

I enjoy punk cover tunes.....Punk Chartbusters are great CDs. I am also into Rock (GNR, Aerosmith, Montley Crue) and you can never get enough Beach Boys

Posted by cyper on May-10-2005 13:03:

I dont actaully listen to any kind of music beyond Trance. If I dont have a trance Cd in the car.. i'll usaully just turn the radio off and not listen to anything. I just cant stand RnB and Rock.

Posted by Deluca on May-10-2005 13:29:

Lotta good stuff out there, since i get bored of stuff fast ive explored a bit but the usual trance, prog., house, tech, rock n roll, classic Rock (zeppelin, cream, rolling stones etc.) almost anything guitar based really (i play but not much these days) "punk" (strung out, taking back sunday etc.)ive found a respect for classical styles like impressionism (check out claude debussy for real chilled "ambient" stuff) and expressionism. blues is awesome, trying to get into jazz...hell i even listen to country (hank williams fukin rules)! peace

Posted by house_conXion on May-10-2005 13:35:

As you can tell by my screen name Trance is not my passion.
House is... from alittle prog to hard house to my all time fav
TRIBAL HOUSE!!! I love tribal, just something about
defines what house music is to me.

Other than that I really don't listen to much else except for Avril Lavigne, Yellowcard and Linkin Park

I've been listening to a lot of Bloc Party lately.

These guys rock and seem to be gaining a lot of recognition at an alarming rate.

They're signed to Vice Records and they're like Franz Ferdinand meets the Killers....Only much better, cuz I think Franz Ferdinand is crap.

Posted by Deluca on May-10-2005 14:00:

ya i aint feeling franz either, but the killers are great

Moi aussi.

It's the only station worth listening to.

Although, if you listen to it at work all day like I used to, it seems like they play the exact same songs in the same sequence. I got sick of listening to Billy Talent so I don't listen to the Edge anymore.

In terms of music, I actually don't listen to trance that much these days. It was my first love when I got into the EDM scene, but I listen to more prog these days. I love house remixes of 80's songs. That being said, I love 80's, alternative, pop, etc. etc. I've been known to listen to the crappiest of the cheese that they play on top 40's stations as well.

For me, music works the same as romantic chemistry. You don't pick and choose what you like, it picks you. You hear a tune, and you automatically know that you're drawn to it because it makes you wanna get up and dance, sing, or it makes you feel great....Or, it could make you think, it could make you pensive, or it could give you an outlet for a state of melancholy.

Posted by Sean Cassidy on May-10-2005 17:25:

when I am not listening to trance/prog/house/tribal/trecho - which is almost always these days

I like the sounds of Dead Can Dance (own everything - LISA GERRARD is a GODDESS!)
Lush, Rose Chronicles, This Mortal Coil, ........anything on 4AD really.......

Boards of Canada (excellent!), Front 242, Smiths, Depeche Mode.....

90+ % of music I listen to/have listened to - has been of EUROPEAN influence/location. Commercial radio - is in the worst state it has ever been........IMO

College/University radio - is where is at - more diversity.

My favorite band is pink floyd, their music is just mind blowing. Other than that i also listen 2 queen, guns n roses, incubus, led zepp and sublime.

I love dark, sexy house, & tribal.

Also been loving electo and tech house of late. Always groovy shit.
Also listen to rock, edge 102 is a good station.

Certain types of hip hop I also love (mainly the groovy, non mainstream stuff). ALthough I do enjoy a good hip hop club banger every once in a while.

Look for their self titled album or Toxicity. Steal This Album is subpar and Mesmerize takes some getting used to.
