djing & driving doesn't go hand in hand.

(from what i know) At one point Armin was going to release Frenzy as Mike presents Annunaki - Frenzy or something like that...

Which obviousely was a load of crap since Frenzy was done a while ago. I know Haak was on Mike's Armada sublabel. Anyway Haak should probably say what was up with that.

Whats wrong with the face putting a name on a track, whilst the brains sit in the studio making tracks?

How many DJs can't drive? How many thousands of DJs out there have never produced anything? Only a comparatively small number of DJs have actually made tracks. Has the DJ at your local club made a track? I doubt it.

Steve Porter & Dave Ralph? prob not. I swear ive seen their name somewhere though.

So they don't automatically go hand in hand. And even if they did, they're totally different skills and so shouldn't be lumped together like this, because it's pointlessly confusing.

To be successful I think its necessary. To take djing to the next level, you almost need to produce.

To be popular, yes. But popularity is not neccesary to be a good DJ, is it? And almost always, these threads aren't about DJing. They're about producing. So why write "DJ" when you aren't talking about DJing?

You've obviously didn't read all posts in this thread... Cause if you did you'd find out I meant 'Producers producing their own music or not'... not 'DJ's... '

I know perfectly well you did, so why the hell did you write "DJ" when you meant producer? If you read all the posts in this thread, you'll see other people misunderstood the thread because you're too lazy to distinguish.

Oh my god!! I didn't know that!! I'm so terribly sorry!!

There's nothing worse than an artist that bitches about someone taking credit for his work when he has done the same thing to other artists.

Posted by Pinokio on May-17-2005 18:21:

Producing & djing are totally Different Skills

I know a lot of good producers, that made beautiful tracks, and when they got into djing its just boring not so exciting.

Djing seems to be easy, just playing records, it doesnt matte rif its your production or not, jus play the right track at the right moment, and you are gonna be good DJ.

Not Everyone can earn this skill.

and of course there are also Great Dj's , that are bad producers, or they dont even know how to produce.

ok, no idea where you got that from. that never happened.
mike was gonna remix it though, well he did actually, but he had a computer crash. too bad cause it was a cool remix

+1 For Producers , and if they can DJ even effin better!!!

Posted by Kuffdam on May-18-2005 10:08:

Hey guys

I am not sure how much this will help this thread but here goes...

Any producer who uses a sample of gets help from another producer doesn't get it for free... nothing in this life is ever truley free.

I am not sure how many of you are aware of PRS or know what they do but this company handle the royalties for tracks airplay and also for the use on compilations, TV adverts etc... Worldwide...

Now as Kuffdam & Plant, both myself and Plant are members. We sign up every track we write and any airplay etc we get a payment. Ie Radio 1 in the UK pays 14 per minute of a track. That money is then spilt between the artists, label etc.

So when Tiesto uses a sample, he must pay the original artist a royalty plus they will also get a cut from any airplay providing that artist is registered with PRS.

PRS costs 100 for a lifetime membership so there is no excuse for an artist not to join.

Now in the example of Sasha... I have looked up the PRS database for his track Scorchio and here are the details of the track and who worked on it.
