Around You

Motorcycle - "Around You". Also, not the biggest fan (does have a nice build up/breakdown, but her voice *nails on chalkboard*), but I am a HUGE fan of two of G & D's other current productions:

Nicole Sponberg - Resurrection (Gabriel & Dresden Vocal Mix)
G & D - Portobello (this track goes OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!)

i would be thrilled if he played
Escape[Phynn Mix] - Fictivision, Phynn from asot2004

anyone1 else like this track?

Filo & Perry feat. Fisher - Closer Now (Whiteroom Remix) +1

Yahel and A-Force - Behind Silence +1

some cool production by Armin himself of course....

Cheers

I reckon if he plays Behind Silence it'll be that crap bootleg. Not impressed.

poor armin - if he reads this thread he's never going to want to come back to chi-town

in all honesty - i still think armin puts on one hell of a show and his shows are always rockin' - his music just isn't my cup-o-tea right now and i'm not going to sweat like a pig at vision just to see a dj put on a great show for his fans

I'm sure it will still be a good night regardless. It's just hard because every time I see him I'm going to be comparing it to the 30.08.2003 show, which was absolutely massive.

Agreed. The only other times I've seen Armin were at TE and on Ibiza... certainly measuring sticks that Vision is in no way prepared to live up to... but it's still Armin

And for the record, if (Well, more like when) Armin drops Shivers/Birth of an Angel I'll be going nuts... may be cheesy, but so is velveeta shells & cheese, and that's some good stuff...

Posted by UWM on May-17-2005 20:01:

Shivers / Birth of an Angel is a blatant rip off of at least 4 other tracks, I can never have any respect for that track or get any enjoyment from it whatsoever.

that show and set were insane! none of his other sets since then have lived up to that one.

meh...

<---- Parade has been rained on...

Just because I'm dwelling on the lack of creativity doesn't mean that it should affect your opinion / enjoyment of the track.

LOL, no worries man... I just had to be on the other end of the "OMFG you like a chessy rip off track" argument at least once, you know?

And in any event, I share your opinion in regards to at least a good amount of what's out there right now, hence the switch to more prog/house (Which are still rife with bad tracks and ripoffs...!)

Just for my own information, what tracks are you referring too? I'm just ignorant of them/hence my digging of these highly disputed tracks... It seems like whenever you even mention them a thread somewhere in the vein of all the "Tiesto" threads I've trawled over begins...

Posted by UWM on May-17-2005 20:16:

Off the top of my head:

Orion - Eternity
Angelic - It's My Turn
Traveller - Bright Sign (Trance Mix)
Factoria - A Legend's Legacy

It's about as bad as the Lolo - Why vs Sasha - Xpander debate. I'm particularly surprised that Armin has chosen to use these melodies so closely considering he was involved in a suit with Mauro Picotto for Like This, Like That copying elements of Blue Fear.

Posted by RJT on May-17-2005 20:19:

Cool, thanks man, I'll definitely be checking those out...

And wasn't it kind of established that "Like This, Like That" was essentially just a blatant rip off of "Blue Fear?" I thought I read that somewhere, but to be honest, I've never actually taken the time to find/listen to a copy of "Like This, Like That."

The "Why" v. "Xpander" debate is definitely an interesting point of reference tho... it must be REAL blatant...

Thanks again, Peace,

RJT

Always a pleasure to actually have a conversation about music that doesn't regress into bashing / flaming / 'I'm better than you' kind of garbage.

Couldn't agree more... I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that some of us understand that we don't know everything, and aren't necessarily going to find the answer just by Google'ing it...

It's finals time anyway, so I'm just all about getting educated right now!

Thanks again man, looking forward to actually meeting you on Saturday! Peace.

Likewise. I'm hoping to actually meet people early in the night so I can hold a coherent conversation

Posted by ctprincess on May-17-2005 21:17:

i have taken that show as a huge learning experience...

1) don't arrive @ Vision at 10pm when doors open
2) don't drink 3 shots of liquid cocaine, a cosmo, and 4 mixed drinks in under 2 hours
3) don't go out to a club with a guy who hates you because you hooked up with his best friend
4) don't date a guy whose name is the same as the headlining DJ (it can be confusing when you hear "you're missing Armin!" and you think it means "stop making out with that guy because you miss your boyfriend")
5) make sure you explore the entire club so you don't end up in the wrong room the entire night while you're so drunk you don't even notice you're dancing to a DJ Sammy song

at least i caught the last 30 min of Armin's set, and the encore which was pretty amazing.

Posted by RJT on May-18-2005 13:38:

Hmmmm.... I've been thinking... The track that very literally got me into spinning records is Blue Fear... I mean, maybe it's cliche, but that track is definitely the reason I got any further than "Resident: Two Years of Oakenfold at Cream..." But I have never seen it spun out live, likely because it's an older track and at Amnesia I was so spun out of my gourd I had no idea what I heard and whether or not it was dropped...

So my new, ultra classic, semi-cheesy, track that Mauro Picotto ripped off request for the night is the ORIGINAL "Blue Fear."

Oh, and UWM, I've only had a chance to check out the Orion and Traveller tracks you listed, but I can definitely see your point. While I'm not sure that "Shivers" is a blatant rip off, it IS damn close to elements of both those tracks... I think it's just the one set of vocals in "Shivers" that gets me every time, just because maybe I'm a sucker for cheesy female vocals in tracks...

"Howwwww could it end this wayyyy!!! Doooon't Leave me..." etc.

But in any event, +1 to joo for educating me....

RJT - Cheesy Trance Cracker til the day I die...

ok - lucid wins hands down for being the most fucked up that night you guys/gals are *ALMOST* making me want to go just to see you peeps all screwed up during the night - but not quite.

and when blue fear and communication were first produced they were pretty amazing records at the time - the sounds were new and different - that's why i still have some hope that armin still has a creative bone in his body
