Disclaimer: I'm an OC major newb, but you can download a little unfinished kit I scavenged together http://digital-menace.com/ug/kickzorz.rar

I was going to be stingy and hold everything to myself, like I saw in someone's sig "the secret to creativity is hiding your sources" or something, I think that's just balognia so screw it heh. Over a bit of time I felt I needed a punchier kick (I love that stuff) and that's what this collection is mostly made of. Alot of them aren't really properly volume matched and stuff, but as I said i'm no pro here! Check them out at your own risk [/2shekels]

Hey,

I've upped a rather big kick package myself, +200 kicks. Most of them are properly set (mono, hiss removed) - at least from those I use most

Download here: icone's kicks

Enjoy!!

I just asked Icone yesterday. It didnt sound like he had the files together anymore. So why dont someone who downloaded the files be so kind as to make a new link for him.

Here is what I do, maybe some of you (especially Battery users) will find this useful. First, it's important to realize and keep in mind that there is not a single kick that will sound great in all songs. Battery, is fantastic to use as a producer because it alows me to audition an entire archive of kick samples in real time while the sequencer is playing all the other perc tracks and the bass tracks. This is an awesome tool. I can work very fast letting my ears quickly choose what sounds good and skip what doesn't. Once you find that first perfect kick sound, if necessary you can then layer a second or third kick with the first and tweak both (auditioning in real time). This will yeild a kick that sounds perfect with the song. This is the best way to produce in my opinion. It's not so beneficial for me to get a bunch of layered samples others have tweaked for their uses. However, more high quality single kick samples are always great to have.

I often layer a few kick samples together to get a little more click sound for more punch. Also, I often layer a clap sound with a snare to give it the snap i need. Adjusting the tails on each layer is a useful tweak (all very easy to do in real time with Battery) Hope it helps. Again real time auditioning and layering "Kicks"!
