I've made Endorphine with Ableton Live.
I like Ableton Live for producing music "live".
Putting some instruments in the channels, effects, drums.
Messing around and creating a track on the fly.
That's how Endorphine was made.

WOW
Is that the real jezper?
Wholly shit dude i love your tunes.Biggest fan in the world how the hell do you get em to sound so crisp and clear.
The leads are incredible fav has to be the remix of smooth you did.
anyway i heard u used headphones to mix with and master?
i wanna use phones and got the cash for good ones but i dont have enough for monitors and i am taking care of my grandparents and cant blast any tunes loud here.
And also whats up with the rumor of you not producing trance anymore?
anyway sorry if i hijacked this forum but like i said huge fan
o.O
experience
Well i bought abelton and i think its cool but not my style really.Im gonna return it becuase i just cant feel working with it.Im gonna stick with fruity altho it does have cool realtime features i just dont like it much.
anyway im gonna take that cash and get aptom polysynth.
old russian synth very rare theres a local pawn shop that has one and its only 400 bucks and its from the early 80's really cool sounds.
no midi but im just gonna run line in i already have amidi controller anyway.
If Ableton has a piano roll like FL Studio, then hell I'm gonna try it.
FL Studio is my favorite though because it is so user friendly, of all programs I tried, FL Studio rules in that area.
That is why I'm stuck with it, and I'm afraid of spending $300+ for something I might not like.
Ableton Rocks!!! no doubt about it....
easy to learn, great workflow.. awesome for getting ur ideas and creativity straight to the point..
one thing i noticed though.. it can`t handle MP3 files.. that was the only let down for me
I treid out the demo a while back, didnt like it... but seeing as it has quality said about it may aswell check it out again!!
personaly
I think FLSTUDIO is the best on the market right now.Alotta people dissagree for many reasons and i can name a few.
1.They bought the other software and now cant afford flstudio and there upset becuase of a no return policy on there copy of cubase.
2.Becuase others say its bad so they have to be cool and agree.
3.Becuase it looks toyish and cheap so they pass it off as a toy insted of actually getting in depth and realizing that its bassicaly one of the best out there.
Iwent and bought the most expensive gt and i went to the bike park and tryed to do cool tricks and my bikes the best so i can do anything but when i tryed to do a wheelie i fell off. Then the kid next to me went to kmart for his bike and he was riding wheelies thruout the park and doing all sorts of cool tricks.
i htought my bike would make me better ;(

Ok i just re download demo and watched some of the tutorials on www.ableton.com w000t better luck this time lol, i like this.
Hey Airbase.
Two more questions.
How is the automation in Ableton? does it work as fast as Reason? One of the reasons i don't wanne switch to Logic is because there the automation is a bit pain and annoying imo.
Second thing i really dislike in Logic and really is a MUST for me in any sequencer is an easy sampler like the NN-19. Where i can (for example) pitch, release and open single samples easy and fast, does Ableton have something like that as well?
I really want to switch to VST but i need these 2 things.
I think LIVE is perfect for arranging your track and save ideas. It is just very easy to use. I use it rewired with Reason and Vstis, and compared to reason arranging is done much faster in intuitively. (Sometimes I just record my reason stuff at first as a clip in reason to get some ideas, later I redo it in Reason with all the automation done there)
I didnt really understand the rooting problem mentioned here about the use of Battery in Live. Its true that you have to monitor the singe battery-outputs via an audiotrack - but there's no problem. You keep playing it as Midi in another track and can just add effects on the audiotrack. But perhaps I didn't get the problem right.

Its really nice to rewire it with Reason and then use ableton to add anything that you wouldn't otherwise be able to add in reason.

"easy to learn, great workflow.. awesome for getting ur ideas and creativity straight to the point.. " i agree
I just started using Live.
I have a problem where my edirol pcr-50 midi keyboard is not recognised by my vst synths. This is only when i use them with Live though, when i use them in FL its all fine. The midi signals are getting picked up by live itself, just not the vst's.
Can anyone help with this?
READ
THE
MANUAL
or
This is assuming you know how to set up a midi controller in a standard options menu...
sorry i couldnt include my actually midi controller for better reference, its not hooked up to this specific computer.

Thanx Twisted!!!
Working perfectly now.

Live 5
From the Ableton Newsletter....sweet. Just got Live 4 a few months ago after 4 years of using FL. What an amazing and powerful tool!!!
ANNOUNCING LIVE 5
Today, Ableton proudly presents Live 5, the teams broadest-ever
development effort of their award-winning music software solution, Live.
Live 5 presents a wealth of new features and enhancements that cater to
the musicians entire musical process creation, production and
performance.
Version 5 adds our users most sought-after features along with an
abundance of innovative new sound-shaping and organizational tools. Most
importantly, Live 5 strengthens every aspect of Live while making the
program more fun and easier to use.
Live 5 includes advanced and creative DAW features to satisfy any audio
professional.
Clip Freeze serves two purposes: freeing up CPU power and easing the
transfer of projects between computers. Unique to Live 5, frozen clips
retain their real-time launch capabilities, allowing for improvisation,
performance or song arrangement. A project with frozen tracks can also
be transferred from your main computer and run easily on one with
less-than-optimal CPU specs.
Plug-In Delay Compensation automatically delays tracks to compensate
for latencies caused by effects and plug-ins, including those on the
return tracks. In addition, both audio and MIDI tracks have a manual
delay setting to compensate for human, acoustic, hardware and other
real-world delays.
 Launchable Arrangement Locators offer arrangement/song-position
markers with MIDI mapping and quantized recall. Using the mouse,
computer keys or MIDI messages, you can drop locators on the fly during
playback or recording. Each locator can be named and assigned to a
computer key or MIDI message. Jumping to a locator is subject to
real-time quantization, just like launching Session View clips and
scenes. Previous/Next buttons allow you to jump from locator to locator.
Mackie Control Support enables full implementation of compatible mixer
surfaces such as Tascams FW-1082/1884, Yamahas 01X and Mackie Control,
allowing for mouse-free program operation. Easily navigate arrangements
and the Session View grid; launch clips, scenes and locators; and access
instruments and effects.
Get ready to remix! Live 5 ships with a host of new remix-minded
features, assuring instant remix and mash-up gratification.
MP3 support makes your entire music library available for use in Live.
Automatic Tempo-Matching tracks the tempo of imported songs and sets
Warp Markers for youinstantly synchronizing your files to the project
tempo.
Complex Warp Mode is a frequency-domain warping method specifically
designed to accommodate composite signals such as mixed-down music.
New Clip Transport allows for performance-enhancing looping, editing
and shuffling on the fly for any clip in Live. Click anywhere in a
waveform to jump therein sync and subject to real-time quantization.
Never lose ideas again! Live 5 features simple tools for saving,
previewing and accessing any idea on your hard drive.
Live Clips. Clips can now be exported to disk for easy retrieval and
reuse in any project. The exported Live Clip not only retains MIDI,
audio, envelopes, warping and other clip settings but also the
associated instrument, effects and plug-ins. In Lives Browser, Live
Clips are as easy to browse and preview as samples.
Better Browsing. Live's built-in Browser now features a search field
and standard file organization capabilities such as creating folders and
dragging files into folders. In the Browser, Live Sets (.als files) can
be unfolded to reveal their tracks and clipswhich can then be
selectively previewed and dragged in. It is also possible to drag a Live
Set from the Browser into the currently open Set to merge the two.
New Preset Management. Presets for Ableton instruments and effects are
now managed through the Browser as well. You can organize presets in
folders at will and search for presets across folders using the search
field. A new browse button on every device temporarily links the
Browser to the device, allowing for easy preset recall.
Device Groups allow you to save powerful multi-effect creations,
effectively adding all the capabilities of Abletons MIDI and audio
effects to Simpler, Impulse and Operator presets.
Live 5 introduces a selection of innovative new effects, bringing even
more creative possibilities.
Beat Repeat - An inspirational, expressive and addictive audio effect
useful for subtle-to-extreme reorganization of beats and vocals. Create
short loops on the fly and control their lengths either manually or via
random functions for endless variations of grooves and stutter effects.
Phaser and Flanger These are both modeled after popular 70s guitar
effects and augmented with a beat-synced LFO (with variable waveforms)
and a unique envelope follower function. Results range from classic
phasing and flanging to drastic sound manipulation.
Auto Pan - Offers LFO-driven manipulation of amplitude and panning. It
can create everything from automatic panning with various curves to
tremolo and amplitude modulation and beat-synchronized chopping effects.
Saturator Add dirt, punch or warmth to your sound with five
different shapes and a set of powerful tone controls for creating
subtle-to-drastic distortion effects.
Arpeggiator Offers all the classic arpeggiator applications and
morestrum notes like a guitarist, morph velocities and create
scale-corrected pitch progressions.
Other new Live 5 features:
Count-in recording
Right-click context menus
Change settings in multiple clips at once

Ableton
I have a question about Ableton.
What vsti do you guys use when you make drums? If you use Impulse, how do you set different effects on each sample?
I've used Live to produce sets since version 3, and I've used it to produce original tracks since they built in MIDI compatibility in version 4. I've been with the software for a while now, and i'm really comfortable with the interface. It's incredibly flexible - my favorite part is that you can change almost EVERYTHING with envelopes - even Operator, it's FM synth. the included plug-ins are great (Ping Pong Delay is a staple!) and now that it supports VST plugins, the amount you can add on to it is endless.
my only gripe is the CPU usage, but that will be fixed in version 5 when you can freeze tracks! I can't wait.
