why dont u take a listen to the artists posted so u understand what prog-psy is cos words cant justify the acutal thing!..and then shut the fuck up.

the reason why J00Fs psytrance sound different from normal psy djs is that he takes normal full on tunes and slows down the BPM. this makes it sound much darker and heavier.
He described this in a thread a while ago. You can clearly hear that some tunes he play, for example Space Monkey - Resident Evil etc are pitched down and sounds very different from the original.

And among this he also plays a big portion of progpsy such as Tegma, Son Kite, Vibrasphere, SBK etc.

And this is what makes him a unique dj 8)

no, it's all based on the name people give a group of songs/artists to describe those songs/artists and how those songs/artists are both different enough to be named differently and that enough people make it for it to be a legitimate thing. what makes prog psy different from regular psy? is it psy that sounds like prog, or prog that sounds like psy. just because a "progressive"(as if you know what that means anyway) track has a little psy influence doesn't mean it's an all new subgenre. kind of like how ferry corsten makes trance with a little bith of electroclash influences. or maybe vice versa. it's either trance or electroclash, but not electro-trance. it's either psytrance or "progressive"(as if you know what htat means anyway), not prog psy.

No surprise there, J00F plays the slice of psy which would most appeal to regular trance fans by my reckoning. Any time I catch a tracklist from a set of his it's just the predictable stuff - lots of big Israeli names, some Wizzy Noise, FREq, etc. Good stuff, but it's only one (admittedly large) side of the genre. At least he has some taste and avoids the Chemical Crew sound.

As for the progressive debate - wow, a lot of idiocy on TA as per usual. No use in explaining anything here.

im listenin to global trance grooves, some killer shit.

ive seen lots of psy acts like fungus funk, neuromotor, winter demon, and dino psaras, but none are quite like joof.















oh and for the record, psy and goa is the same shit.

Goa refers to a style of music which was brought out of India by globetrotting DJs and producers in the mid-90s. Psytrance is the more dancefloor-friendly version which emerged in the late-90s after many of the producers began going digital. One followed the other but they are NOT the same.
