there's a word i'm looking for here, it might be "ironic"

Not so different from things in movies or video games.

Firstly the amount of skill and effort that goes into making these things is pretty massive. Secondly I think they have genuine artistic merit. As a body of work they can be an exercise in culture-jamming and raise valid questions about the human tendency to keep dolls (and perhaps even to have children). Watch Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence it explores some similar issues (albeit in a different, far more savoury manner). But saying that the person who makes these should be shot or whatever is indicative of the kind of narrow-minded bigotry that leads to many of the worlds problems...

isn't it someones fascination with nature gone wrong which is the disturbing part?

and where the fascination has come from? and what else it might lead to?

I think artists have the licence to make us look at things that we naturally find disturbing. It could lead to us actually looking at the amputee begging for coins on the street and dealing with the problem rather than turning away from him. It could lead to us asking why we pretend people with deformities or other defects don't exist. Why do people feel uncomfortable around anyone with a physical defect. They turn to someone next to them on the train and that person wil answer briefly and turn away or try to ignore them. A mentally retarded man (I think he had Down's or something and was clearly starved of any social interaction) tried to start a conversation with a bunch of people on the train the other day and everyone kept ignoring him. When he got to me I kept talking to him for the duration of the journey and other people were looking at me as if I was weird... What the fuck is wrong with society. Deformity reminds them of their own mortality (a vital part of our humanity imo) so they avoid it. And in the process they lose some of their humanity. I see this art as sending up that tendency in humans and making us question it...

Ya its kinda gross, But really ive seen worse when i went to a movie magic convention here in Vancouver. it was a showcase of movie special effects, all diffrent types like digital, physical, models. SOme of the horror stuff they had was crazy.

and as sick as it is, the weirdo making this shit is pretty talented. The detail is some of those is pretty crazy

this is a prime example of what my school news paper did for april fools

Backgorund:Our school paper is called the pipe dream and is a simple college paper with fine articles to read when bored

What happened: On April fools day each year it is called the pipe bomb and this year(2005) version well seems went over the top.
There were pictures of penises, an articles about our safe ride that drops people off in certain areas used in a parody article called rape ride and then to top it off had a picture of the sexual sadisitc pyramid of people used from iraq when the American soldiers did that to show off their power.

Point: I was disgusted at first and so were many people. The editors got threat and even their family members of pipe dream workers were brought into this mess with letters to them

Moral: Free expression rules. To one person its art and to another is shit just like the shit placed on the jesus in that brooklyn museum few years back. Now that was a story for the media!

The problem is how the media is so controlling. If I wrote that crap in my basement and showed it to my friends thats would of been fine but the news papaer going around the school was a nono. The media all around us controls us so if its on TV or newspaper and now the internet its wrong or right. And guess when if its a one sided argument, then X amounnt of people will def have an advantage of whats digusting or not over the lessers people's beliefs

It needs to be looked at objectively, but if that's not possible, then I think it's a success as well. Absolutely admire the work, or despise it. Hating as much as you love imo in the art realm, is just as successful. Stir up some psyche! Personally, I've seen much worse.
