maybe it was the bryan adams project that ended his brilliance!?

Yea I didn't like the Original "Don't Give It Up" but his Disco Citizens remix is great.

I'm curious as to what has been up with Nick myself...Easy to Assemble was supposed to be released over a year ago, but still has yet to hit retail stores, and wasn't that spectacular to begin with.

I thought that he was "fxing" the album up for retail, but he's basically fallen off the face of the earth.

I guess it doesn't matter a lot at this point anyway, because the music he's making probably won't appeal to most trancEaddicts who fell in love with his stuff during the Maddening Crowds or Sun era.

Hopefully at some point he'll start working on dance music again though, his style was beautiful and unique on the scene, and his drift into Euro Pop has really left a gap IMO.

woot! Chicane finally updated his website: www.chicaneonline.com/news

first update since August

Posted by Aiwendil on Jun-14-2005 07:53:

For the love of everything beautiful, he is living. Leave him to it. He is contented, and happy. If he feels sad, he is seeing an illusion. He is taking a glimpse into my mind. And I suppose that means Chicane is also reading my mind. Well, I don't really think that. Do I? HEh.

I read he's gonna start producing electro techy prog. Discussions are still in the works, but he's planning a collaboration with Sasha some time this year. Guess we'll all have to wait for it.

Thats fine..if it's true, but he shouldn't completely abandon his trademark sound. It's one thing for an artist to grow a little yet they shouldn't alienate their fans by completely changing their sound. Robert Miles is an example to me of a producer who completely changed his sound, from dream trance/house to really dark, experimental music mixed with different ethnic sounds and instruments, like the sitar. It was cool, but his new stuff is not really uplifting or highly melodic like his old stuff, it's much more mellow. I just hope Chicane doesn't go all that direction, or all commercial. Like other people have said, his old stuff was unbeliveable. One of my favorites is "Leaving Town" a tune he did with Salt Tank. It still gives me the chills, melodic trance-ambient music at it's finest.

He might use that style just when he produces with Sasha.... who knows?

billy ray martin - honey (chicane club mix) is all.

Well let's just hope that he wont go completely that route, or completely commercial, like with his "Love On The Run". I personally think that song is awful, worse than "Don't Give It Up". Vocal tunes are great but "Love On The Run" just doesn't cut it in my opinion. Autumn Tacticts is an excellent vocal tune in my opinion, and not just because Justine Suissia sings, it's just a quality production period.

Posted by BshidoHEAT on Aug-08-2005 05:07:

I really don't mind Love On The Run, I think it's an OK tune, but that just might be my cheesy side heh. Don't Give Up on the other hand is pretty bad. Only the DC and Tomski remix save it . Too bad I've only heard it once, and that was the Palladium set.

Posted by _Ocean_Drive_ on Aug-08-2005 08:34:

I think 'Love on the run' is a great track.....

So there!

Posted by Prototrance on Aug-08-2005 13:40:

What happened with the 'Easy to assemble' album. Seems that it got a release in the US but I've been unable to find it in UK.

Anyone?????

Posted by DJ Cinos on Aug-27-2005 13:35:

It was never released. I heard it's going to be released late this year. I certainly hope so.

BTW: We should be happy Chicane actually decided to remake the album because it was so shitty. It might be really great when it's done!

Posted by dannyc on Aug-27-2005 16:24:

i wonder how many million he made from saltwater. probably busy spending it all

Posted by Peter K on Aug-27-2005 16:44:

Love on the run is a good track, I don't understand why it's so hated on TA. same with Don't give up

Ugh... I'm a huge Chicane fan, but no. Love On The Run is cheap radio music. Don't Give Up was great, however.

Kilometre is the only good track on ETA. Hopefully he doesn't remove that one in the new edition... that comes late 2005. Can't wait!

Posted by n0bben on Aug-27-2005 17:06:

both love on the run and dont give up was shit in my opinion. but not as shit as offshore '97. hopefully his forthcoming album doesnt contain too much of that stuff, though i aint holding my breath. he would have to pretty much rework almost everything on easy to assemble in that case. anyway, he's done two great albums so it's only a bonus if he could make another one.

I don't think Mojave will ever be released. It has been 6 years since that one time it was ever played and still nothing..

weird to see that nick's official website doesn't open at all, there's a page that says: This domain has just been registered for one of our customers!
are they selling the domain or maybe they're updating the site as announced some times ago
