Picard: The economics of the future are somewhat different. You see, money doesn't exist in the 24th Century. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity.

Actually if anyone in the UK is interested 'Brave New World' the film is on tonight on ITV at 12 midnight
Brave New World? Is it new or the old one. I want to watch it, its at Blockbuster here in the U.S., but it looks awful. I havent read the book in a couple of years, but I remember that the country of the book seemed to be fighting this was against an invincible enemy. Might be 1984, I forgot. Anyways, I always felt that was interesting, especially now as are enemies (at least in the U.S.) are growing less and less visible. I wonder 30 years from now if our government will still be pouring trillions of dollars into defense, if we will still be chasing the Taliban.

If you are mocking me, I believe you underestimate the government. The gain power through the fear of the people, take for example the Patriot Act. But are we so much safer as compared to before? The basic fact is that if a terrorist wants to do harm to our country there are so many different possibilities that they will find a way to achieve their goals. The government tries to pretend they can protect from all future harm by us granting them a little more power each time, a little more tax paying dollars.
Anyways back to Brave New World and 1984, I have read both books, but actually haven't seen either movie. The do not look good, as I have said, but the stories could make great movies. As I posted earlier, I want to write a screenplay that intertwines the worlds proposed by BNW, 1984, and Farhenhite, and wanted more thoughts on how people view this genre, or what they think would make it better.

No sorry I misinturprited the
face at the end. I realize it would have to be low budget, as sci-fis usually do not fair to well at the box-office. Also, I didn't realize there were drills in cities now! Thanks for the info. I think that would be an interesting thing to put into a dystopian world. Just like the alert colors on Fox and those drills, the public must be constantly aware of possible impending doom and their lives revolve around attempting to protect themselves.
