Always a mango milk bubble with no tapioca....and no friggen ice....hate paying for a glass full of ice LOL they sometimes get upset cuz I say no ice... seems they like to overcharge for a cup of ice

Bubble tea, not for me (ever again).

Hear hear!

Put a beer in my hand instead of this bubble tea junk. Expensive as hell, and I'd rather drink iced tea.

Don't like the "bubbles" in bubble tea.

They have nice flavours though.

For those of you who live in the dark reaches of the universe and havent heard of bubble tea, prepare to be educated!! Bubble tea was first invented some time in the 80s at some odd little tea stand targeting young children in Taiwan. Evidently, some crafty (and probably pedophile-esque) entrepreneur decided mixing fruit juice with tea would be a good way to get kids to drink tea. The first bubble tea stand was set up by a female vendor and she simply mixed fruit juice with tea and shook it up, hence bubbles. However, in 1983, bubble tea took a decidedly more perverse turn.

A man named Liu Han-Chieh decided to add his balls to the tea and continue selling to small children. These balls are rather small and chewy. The balls are allegedly made of tapioca, sweet potato, cassava root and brown sugar. I think theyre actually some kind of crazy Asian drug, but Ill talk more about that later. Anyway, the little blackish-brownish balls are about the size of marbles and get sucked up thru the really fat straw you are provided with.

Shaya007: Is this a big thing in toronto or something, cuz I have never heard of it in NY? Thanks for the explanation, cuz I was just gonna ask!

These balls you speak of: sounds like you could choke on them: are they hard like candy, or whats the deal with them?

--->whoa curiousity has taken me over!

Posted by Irishaddict on Jun-01-2005 05:23:

There's one place in Hamilton that makes a chocolate mint bubble tea...oh sooooooooo good. I haven't had it in a while though but I sure want one now.

Absolutely NO 'bubbles' in it though. Man those things are gross. They're chewy and totally distract you from the actual drink. As far as choking on them goes - I'm sure it's possible (I've heard of people choking on weirder shit) but for the most part ya just chew em BEFORE any choking takes place.
