We all know that Toronto is the best city in Canada and its in Ontario, not that hellhole called Qai Bec!.

There is no trance capital, all major cities are the same imo, we all have our residents and then big clubs bring in big names and they come in, be it progressive, techno, house or trance. So LA, Montreal, Toronto and others are what I call fickle club cities, big name, bring him or her in, hell with the genre and that's true. Tho I do see Digweed next weekend, then Sasha and Porter \o/

The only downside to MTL is the french, though downtown its mostly english anyway.

Speaking of artists, funny you should mention Sasha and Porter...theyre coming along too with Infected Mushroom as well

Grand Prix weekend in montreal owns any wkend in TO.

I'll take non french Toronto over Montreal anyday of the week, tho I do speak french well and I can swear in both official languages.

it's funny how Toronto peeps keep on saying "oh my god i had the best time of my life in Montreal, you guys know how the party, the chicks are hot, the vibe is insane, and the clubs are open till very very late". what's even funnier is that no one from Montreal says that about Toronto.

hate it or not, when it comes to partying and so many other things Montreal 0wns Toronto anytime. now shut up andy fool.

I still stand by my statement! and stop talking taha, you don't live in Montreal anymore, you did but since you don't anymore...I doubt the comment is anymore valid.

Posted by fastmp3 on Jun-01-2005 19:40:

it is still valid andy, ask your friends in Toronto they'll tell you. and i'm in montreal right now so shut up fool andy fool

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-01-2005 19:41:

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-01-2005 19:44:

i've been everywhere and this has been discussed so many times...

L.A. at one point had 4 clubs bring a-list DJ's... right now its at 3...

Avalon in L.A. - sasha just ended his residency there... most of the GU crew is on heavy rotation(every saturday)
Spundae in L.A. - the big a-list in trance, ferry, armin, JOOF, you name it this place goes off every saturday
Heaven in L.A. - up & coming, but brings trance talent from abroad... above & beyond, johan(every friday)

so i mean, every weekend in L.A. you have a choice of 3 major headliners... i've been elsewhere and maybe S.F. can compete but thats it. If you name another city its already run by Spundae or Avalon, this is the only city where Avalon & Spundae(2 of america's largest club business) compete.

But I'd have to say Miami only cuz I live here but I have no idea about everywhere else.

I just think it depends when you go. Because house seems to be the 'in' thing now. Edgar V has a residency on Saturday afterhours.. George Acosta spins on wednesdays somewhere [ even if he is lame ] and a local TA spins trance at a club in SoBe every tuesday.

Melly i have to disagree with you totally. I think miami actually really sucks for trance. People down here are more into house and progressive type stuff even though good progressive doesnt have much ground around here unless when a big dj comes into town. I mean think about it, Space 34 which is the biggest club down here is owned by house. Oscar G, Cedric, Roland. And the patio at space is OWNED by house. By the way i know you my names matt ive seen you around when i go clubbing alot. I went to pace i dunno if you remember me.

now for my 2 cents, I have partied both in TO and MTL the last 5 years and I can say this with ease..
Montreal owns the overall party scence, the previous posts in this threaad by other TA's explains why.

Montreal is best known for House muzak

Yes Toronto has a higher frequency of international artists playing in its clubs and venues.

For trance capital dunno yet.

For .U.S.A, I can't say anything as I haven't partied there yet.. ?

House and Techno capital is Detroit no? word from the web..

Top Trance City in North America

I think if you go strictly by bookings, LA and Chicago get the best dj's the most often. They have many great clubs, good promotion groups like Spundae, and you can party all night long!

Chicago seems to be a great city for EDM in general.

Its more fun to party in montreal. But in terms of trance capital, i would still say its TO bc i think Toronto has the most demand for trance than anywhere else in NA.

I have a tiesto interview from a year ago where he basically says that Toronto has the biggest trance scene in NA, and the interview was done in montreal lol

End of discussion.

depends on where u go.....glow almost weekly...cubik not unless its a huge headliner

New York City is not a town you come to for trance, for the most part.

Yes, of course we get the big headliners, but the clubs are always overcrowded and rarely managed well (in my experience). Clubbing in NYC, no matter who's the DJ, is about being seen and rarely about the music.

We do have a nice underground scene, where the best trance parties are run by TAs (i.e. The Loft and TFST)
