No offense to the south americans but this sorta thing happens alot. When I watch the football of South America it is very dirty and rough. This will most likely get overlooked by most football fans around the world outside of South America and Fifa.

Trust me if the Inter-Milan fan revolt happend in South America there wouldnt be a big deal about it.

Anyway FucK Boca. Bitches cant even shake hands with Once Caldas last year

wow River pulled off a nice close win 3-2 Global 4-3 .Banfield gave it all they had, almost had em but they missed a clear goal.
So its River vs Sao Paulo in one semifinal

Santos were elimanated and Ill say not havin Robhino was a major reason obviously, without him they arent that good.
Chivas vs Atl. Paranaense will be the other semifinal, both teams have never made it to the final before.

Sao Paulo kicked Rivers ass today 2-0, I didnt see a loss like that coming for River although this dosnt suprise me.Futbol+Argentinans = violence

Argentine fans confront police before Copa Libertadores match in Brazil
June 22, 2005

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) -- Fans of Argentine club River Plate clashed with Brazilian police on Wednesday before the team's Copa Libertadores semifinal against Sao Paulo at Morumbi Stadium.

Police said no serious injuries were immediately reported.

Sao Paulo fans also threw rocks at the bus carrying River Plate players as they arrived at the stadium, breaking six windows but not injuring anybody before police intervened.

Police used riot batons to ward off River Plate fans who reportedly were upset with the police's decision to prohibit them from displaying team banners in the stadium. Globo TV showed the fans breaking their wooden seats and using them to confront the policemen.

``We were attacked and had to defend ourselves,'' police major Valter, who would give only his first name, told local Radio Jovem Pan. ``Some of our officers suffered minor injuries, but the situation was quickly under control.''

Globo said as many as 14 people, including policemen and River Plate fans, were treated at the stadium for bruises and minor cuts.

its gotten so bad in Argentina that they had to cancel this weeks League games over there because theres been an increased amount of violence in almost every game.

That type of behavior needs to stop. I didn't see the game but I'm glad to see River lost. Unfortunately, I will also be unable to see tomorrow's game.

South americans act like cavemen sometime

Anyway River got their ass handed to them.....should be an interesteing second leg

Posted by sensorium on Jun-26-2005 02:48:

Chivas down by three. That's going to be hard to overcome, specialy with the limited team Galindo has. Love his attitude though.

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jun-27-2005 02:42:

not lookin good for Chivas

River MIGHT pull it out though and score the 3 goals needed

logic says we might have an all brazillian final though

haha FIFA said chivas will get their players back for thursdays game, which is crazy cause theyre gonna have to play 2 games in 2 days, lol.

off topic, Boca hired Alfio Basile might remember him as the old Argentinan coach back in the 90s.(he was the coach in the qualifier when Colombia beat Argentina 5-0 lol)

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jun-30-2005 02:23:

barring a miracle with 20 minutes left in the game River is about to be elimanated, losing 2-1 to sao Paulo
SO FAR the players arent acting like sore losers like Boca lol
fans booed Lucho Gonzalez when he subbed out, ungrateful bastards after all he's done for them during this tourney. He's probably gonna leave the team anyways.
woo hoo no Argentinan teams in the final.

GAME OVER - Brazil owns Argentina again today haha
River loses 3-2 (5-2 global)
Sao Paulo on to the final
much respect to the River crowd and the players, other than the fact they booed some of their own players like Gonzalez etc.. nothing bad happened.

EDIT: LMAO spoke to soon........

BUENOS AIRES, June 29 (Reuters) - South America's Libertadores Cup was blighted by more crowd violence on Wednesday as Sao Paulo beat River Plate 3-2 away in their semi-final second leg to cruise into the final.

The Brazilians, already 2-0 ahead from the first leg, completed a 5-2 aggregate and condemned River to a semi-final defeat for the second year running.

Danilo, Amoroso and Fabao scored for Sao Paulo, who reached the final for the first time since 1994, while Ernesto Farias and Marcelo Salas replied for the Argentines, who never threatened to overturn the first leg deficit.

Off the field, television pictures showed River fans hurling missiles at rival supporters in the upper tier of the stadium.

The contingent of around 1,000 Sao Paulo supporters was forced to leave ten minutes before the end while River fans fought with police.

Sao Paulo also complained that fans stoned their team bus on the way to the stadium, breaking three windows, Brazilian media reported. Nobody was reported hurt.

Two weeks ago, a crowd riot forced the quarter-final second leg between Boca Juniors of Argentina and Guadalajara of Mexico to be called off in the 79th minute at the Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires.

Last week, River fans clashed with riot police while the River team bus was pelted with stones by rival fans before the first leg at Sao Paulo's Morumbi stadium.

WILD TACKLES

The game itself produced another of the controversial refereeing performances which have marred the tournament, this time by Chile's Ruben Selman.

Selman did not send off River midfielder Javier Mascherano, who was booked early on and then committed three apparently blatant yellow card offences without receiving another caution, infuriating Sao Paulo.

He also did not punish what looked like a blatant tackle from behind by Carlos Diogo on Amoroso.

River had banked on an early breakthrough but instead it was the visitors who took the lead when Danilo headed in from a 12th minute corner.

River's best spell came in the last ten minutes before halftime.

Farias equalised with a superbly taken goal, controlling a free kick on his chest and volleying past Rogerio Ceni in the 35th minute.

Then, Marcelo Gallardo hit the post and later forced goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni to turn his shot around the post in successive attacks.

Sao Paulo killed the tie when Junior burst down the left and set up the second for Amoroso in the 58th minute.

Fabao added the third in the 80th minute and Salas pulled one back for River four minutes later.

Atletico Paranaense have a chance to make it an all-Brazilian final when they face Guadalajara away in the other semifinal second leg on Thursday. Paranaense have a 3-0 lead from the first leg.

Bofo got two games! That's nonsense.

Anyway, I didn't watch either of the second leg matches. I'm just happy there are no teams from Argentina in this final.

yeah amazingly nothing happened
security was really tight, the cops even stopped and tackled 2 fans who jumped on the field to celebrate prematurely.
