and ya couldnt introduece them to the TOTA manfest that kept u company the rest of the night....

average night out

i liked MOST of brad copelands opening set. he played a bunch of stuff i was really into but also some stuff i wasnt feeling either.

digweed was OK. nothing special or mindblowing by any stretch of the imagination though (at least not for me). i guess im just not really into his 'sound' anymore.

meh

was also surprised to see there werent more people @ system last night, not that it was dead or anything like that but there were more people there to see lawler/howells than digweed.

Ray took this picture which I really like outside the club while waiting for me.

And who is the worlds best girlfriend? (yeah, i know it's heidi)

Posted by StereoPrincess on Jun-11-2005 18:56:

ha ha that's funny with the PVD signed thing in the back too.

could be, i remember a bunch of very familiar and dubbed down so to say melodies when he was going thru a progressive part of the set. really it was up and down, in a good way. he'll get you groovin with some prog and then destroy you with the hard beats, and so forth. he was absolutely phenomenal.

there was finally a good remix of chab - closer to me that john played as well, and i was very very happy to hear it

I'm so glad I decided to go last minute as usual. I got there around 12 and as I joined the line some guy walked up and offered his $25 ticket to me. It was $40 at the door, I wasn't going to refuse So, the night started out pretty well. Hung out in the front room with TAs dancing and mingling. Adam Green was dropping some groovy tunes, great way to get the night started.

JD came on around 2. He got off to a very slow start. I wasn't really digging it at first because I'm all about the hard thumping bassline and I couldn't wait. Even though the main room wasn't packed I got kicked, pushed and my feet stepped on many times. The crowd seemed very antsy and moved around a lot. So I decided to chill in the front room or in the smoking area until the music was more to my liking.

3am rolls around and the music starts sounding wayyy better. Time to hit the dance floor. As others had mentioned JD's set was very techy with lots of electro sounds. I couldn't be happier. And those hard pounding basslines... woohoo! Next thing I know it's 6:20 and JD is off the decks. Time goes by fast when you're having fun!

Good seeing so many smiley faces last night. Ivan, hope you enjoyed your first live JD performance. Great chilling with you and soon to be a TA, Jen. LKD, MaxQ, GQ Styles & co, great seeing you guys on the dancing floor. Heidi, Aaron and Jeff, good seeing you guys in the front room, where did you go to after that? Neetha, big surprise seeing you, didnt know you were coming down. Btw newr, I hope youre not reading this review thread because you must be kicking yourself right about now. : ) Big up to Margs, Tristan, b4k-oz, both Seans, Cecilia, Kevin, Jason and everyone else who joined in giving the dance floor a good pounding courtesy of Mr. John Digweed.

Long live techy-electro sounds !!!

uhm... my feet are still sore tho...thanks Raiban for stepping on them and making them feel better ...........j/k

OK before I forget....there was one thing that kinda almost wrecked my nite. Some guy with a pony tail towards the front of the stage had some serious disgusting BO...I mean stink (even stink bait) wudn't want to be near this dood. The smell actually made me upchuk. I have never experienced that b4... I silently tossed my cookie-oh's in the bathroom...hope to god no1 realized it

Thanks again Sean...I don't know what I would do without you nearby man.

LKD...stay kewl

imHo, dunno where claims are coming from.
I thought Digweed spun a REALLY good set.
Ya he lacks any energy behind the decks, but his
mixing/track selection had me in my groove all night

Met 10 or so TA's for the first time.
I remember DJ Science - too cool - Max Q, joinT, and more...

seriously, i hate fucking complainers.

for all the fucking complainers. where the fuck is your amazing set? when the fuck are you spinning next? when will the the time you get paid tons of money to fuck around with some tunes?

anyways, kelly, the night was amazing, the music was amazing and true fans that missed it really missed out.

john digweed is the king of sound. he played exactly the set that was in my head for the night. and how every set should be.

That's so nice of you to mention... you got great vibes too!! I couldn't help smiling when I saw you dancing like there's no tomorrow so I parked myself beside you and went nuts.

They keep the Lost and found in Orin's office... call the club or email him at [email protected] :-)

I once lost my driver's licence and it was there!

5th time seeing JD and everytime he's fresh and uinique. reminds me of this quote by Jimmy Van M:
"John could mix through anything, Sasha can create an atmosphere out of nothing"
true testament to Digger's amazing mixing abilities.i was a bit suprised at first -being used to his darker prog sets- but those kick-ass baselines just makes you forget speculating and just enjoy the music, 4.5 hours of banging funky/tech-haus/electro/prog music.

his new sound should be no suprise though, in a interview early this year he mentioned "The biggest compliment I get is when someone says, "This album is different from your last one." I always try to put projects out there that are different and I also want to have a different sound within the mix. I think you can have a winning formula, but people dont want to hear it over and over again. For me its always about finding exciting music. Theres some exciting music out there right now thats a little bit more up, a little funkier - It all goes with the times....I think musically Ive changed a bit more up, a bit more funky, a lot more bass driven its definitely a change of vibe for me at the moment." full interview here.

highlight of the night was seeing ryanparks take some boob shots /ass shots of 2 gals going wild, with the security guy providing lighting:
(the girl actually pulled down her pants to take this shot!)

and ...

good to meet some old/new TAs (Tordan -you can bust some serious moves man!, Naesean3, Karim, MaxQ (rememered my name!), GQ Styles, DJ Science,Goodnet, theVrk, SterioPrincess (dbl checking! ) and Mr. Tang (thnx for the g-list as usual). supprised not see Highroller and Gamma there.
next destination: Sash/Lawler.
